AIBU to take my favourite mug on holiday?

My husband thinks I’m mad. We’re just packing for our Summer holiday to Norfolk, and I’m packing my favourite mug to take with me. The thing is, we all know tea tastes better out of a good mug. And mugs in rental holiday homes are always crap - generally those awful Ikea ones with tiny handles. So sod it, I’m going to take my mug with me. I’m only taking one, I’m not even bringing my afternoon mug (yes, I have different shaped mugs for different times of day, is that just me??)

I know it will increase my enjoyment of this holiday, and we need all the help we can get there as, whilst I love Norfolk, we were meant to be going to Canada 😔

Anyone else take other home comforts with them away on holiday??

We always take our own mugs and teabags everywhere we go. Our pillows always go too so long as we are taking the car.

I have a holiday mug Blush I’m always worried my morning coffee cup- well bucket- will get broken if I take it away.
So I bought an equally large heavy mug from Alton towers when the hotel we were staying in might as well have served coffee in thimbles. It now comes on every holiday with me. In my hand luggage so it doesn’t get lost.

I’m assuming you’re bringing your husband with you, so all your favourite mugs are coming.

That's entirely reasonable OP. If you've got a good mug and a sharp knife you're sorted! We've been going to the same part of the country for a staycation every year since the DC were tiny. We take the car with a roof box ...and have been known to drive a transit down as well to accommodate bikes, kayaks and spare children. The dogs travel in the back of the estate car on their padded beds. Obv strict hierarchy in our house - mine can't complain it's not as tho we're flying first while they're in economy ( I wish I could afford abroad!)

I took my soda stream last time I went away in UK. DH thought I was going mad.

My breakfast tea mug (whittard again) broke at the weekend 😔. I have to use my mid-morning/lunchtime mug now. Afternoon is herbal tea, different mug again and coffee is always in a mug from Finland. DH thinks I'm bonkers he just uses whichever mug is at the front of the cupboard, the heathen.

I'm down to my last reasonable mug.
I have others but they are either too small or too big or too thick.

It's half a pint and straight sides and I also use it to measure liquids for recipes, where they need half or quarter of a pint. This just doesn't work with mugs with sloping sides.

Go for it! Live your best, favourite mug life!

YANBU!
I think I'll do this for my next holiday, they always have those tiny teacups!
I need a bucket of tea in my hand at all time's!

I took my mug, gin glass and pillows on my recent trip to Wales. Definitely needed all of them!

Carouselfish · 04/08/2020 14:57

I mean, it'd be mad to take one abroad but driving up to a self catering place, it makes sense...

Mars bars for scale purposes - my favourite office mug that was bought on holidays. Holds a decent cup of tea!! It’s Dunoon. I lust after more Dunoon mugs. I was really lucky to have brought this one home at lockdown!
