Does anyone else get this?

Since having DS, every time I have a bath I seem to err... leak water afterwards.

Normal? Grin

There's been threads about it before. You are not alone. :-)

DustyMaiden · 31/07/2020 11:15

You are certainly not the first person to ask on here. So I would say normal.

paellaandpies · 31/07/2020 11:16

Three words.

Pelvic Floor Exercises.

And if that doesn’t help, see your dr. They might be able to refer you to a specialist physio if needed. Apparently this sort of post natal care is standard in France, but here we are just left to get on with it!

FedUpofLockdown123 · 31/07/2020 11:17

Happened to me at 22 weeks in my first pregnancy. I was in a right state and went to hospital in tears thinking my waters had broke. A few examinations later and the conclusion was bath water Blush

Northernsoullover · 31/07/2020 11:18

I had it after giving birth in the early months. Definitely up your pelvic floor game!

ExtraFirmHold · 31/07/2020 11:41

Definitely within the realms of normal. However get checked out by GP or gynecologist, it happens to me because of prolapse, with pelvic floor exercises it can improve Smile

FourPlasticRings · 31/07/2020 11:43

It's called after-bath, according to Raised by Wolves. It's happened to me since puberty.

AgnesNaismith · 31/07/2020 11:45

Normal!

yelyah22 · 31/07/2020 11:47

Normal, and I've never had kids!

Newernewist · 31/07/2020 11:47

I was thinking of the same comment fourplasticrings 😂

Branleuse · 31/07/2020 11:51

Normal. Worst bit is when you dont realise till you lift your leg up to dry your fanny and it all pours out on the floor

liklypaddy · 31/07/2020 11:53

I also can't use tampons anymore. I do pelvic floor exercises every day but do have a feeling something isn't right down there Blush

I'm not a doctor so I can't say how normal it is but it is very common!

Infact amongst rl women I know and previous threads on here it's almost all women who have at least once or regularly have this happen.

Once you know it happens to you you can sort it before you get out the bath so so surprises once your walking about in your towel.

vikingwife · 31/07/2020 11:56

I bathe daily & never experienced this issue. It could be normal, but if you feel something isn’t right down there, go get it checked out !

hammie46i · 31/07/2020 12:14

I get it occasionally and I've not even had kids

Tryalittletenderness · 31/07/2020 12:20

It’s called water trapping, best to see the doctor/gynaecologist.

rosiejaune · 31/07/2020 14:04

Pelvic floor exercises are not appropriate in many cases. They can make things worse.

Branleuse · 31/07/2020 14:06

doctor or gynaecologist is not going to be remotely concerned unless its actually causing you issues in life such as incontinence or dragging feeling in your pelvis

FlorenceFlounce · 31/07/2020 14:12

It’s a red herring 💗 Maybe you are generally “not quite right” down there at the mo and that’s what’s got you worrying about it.

But the water trapping itself is nothing to do with giving birth or weak pelvic floors or anything negative.

I’ve not had kids but am currently pregnant and my gynae consultant said at my 12 week appointment I had a spectacularly strong pelvic floor 🤣 but I’ve always had water trapping 3 times out of 5 after a bath 🤷‍♀️

doadeer · 31/07/2020 14:16

I get it loads. I've got really strong pelvic floor (according to physio and nurses who do smears) I don't think it's anything to worry about. If I've been lying in the bath for ages it's inevitable I think... What's funny is it usually happens 15 mins after

Musmerian · 31/07/2020 14:17

I get this since three births even though my pelvic floor is generally fine

LittleCabbage · 31/07/2020 14:21

Insist your GP refers you to a pelvic physio for assessment. They often won't offer this without prompting, but you have the right to see one. They will assess you for birth damage, check your pelvic floor integrity and strength and make sure you are doing PFEs correctly. And give you all sorts of other advice.

They will refer you on to a urogynaecologist if needed.

TheHighestSardine · 31/07/2020 14:27

"Can't use tampons any more" is a red flag - get yourself a consultation through your GP, that's a sign things are moving around when they probably shouldn't be.
