To want an invoice?

We are based in Ireland in case that makes a difference.

My DD has just started part time in a crèche. It's a large chain of crèches, not just a privately run one. Last month the crèche sent me an email telling me how much I owed for the first (short) month, which I paid by card.

I requested an invoice for last month and also expected to get one for each month showing the overall amount which should include the cost and also the hourly deductions we are entitled to based on the National Childcare Scheme.

I've just been told they only give receipts not invoices.

Is this normal for crèches? Surely a business has to issues invoices?

I don’t get an invoice.

It’s a daily rate, and the monthly cost is the same.

We always got an official invoice from our nursery, followed up by a printed receipt.
I don’t know if it’s different in Ireland but in the UK, I think only VAT registered businesses are supposed to issue invoices by law. But I’m no expert, I’m sure someone will be along shortly with the right answer!
