To want my husband to go to the GP?

My husband is 28, slightly overweight but quite fit but I'm concerned about him.

He has lower back pain most days and suffers enormously with his mouth. He get 2 or 3 mouth ulcers every couple of weeks. He is a teacher so does little heavy lifting/manual work but does have moderate stress. He is tired a lot of the time too.

I just have a bad feeling and want him to see a GP. He hasn't seen a GP since he was a toddler. No joke. Is this something a GP would look at him for. Do blood tests for?

DH is incredibly stubborn and doesn't believe he needs to go.

YABU - DH has no symptoms that warrant going to see a GP.
YANBU - DH should see a GP.

The mouth Ulcers - is it after certain foods ? My DS is coeliac and reacts to oats by getting mouth ulcers. Keeping a simple food diary helped us track it down.. the back ache could be the extra weight ? Though if he's not seen a gp since a child I'd probably want him to get bloods done.

I’d make an appointment for the dentist. If they are concerned they can arrange for bloods to be done or give advice on the ulcers

I'd be encouraging him to get a check up simply because he hasn't been for so long. It'd be no harm to get bloods done, blood pressure tested etc just to be sure everything's OK. Get him to think of it as sort of an MOT or something.

Ahh, it should be her DH choice. OP can make the appointment, he dont have to keep it I get why OP is concerned but really, its up to him to WANT to go, i say as someone who wont see a dr unless im as good as unconscious or have a limb hanging off. Its been about a decade since last visit

Why dont he want to go? Past trauma? just cos?
For me its past trauma so i avoid it like the plague which yes is counter productive but its how i cope in face of little support for medical trauma and phobias in public system
Crack the why and go from there
