Government obesity campaign vs eat out help out.

AIBU - to wonder who thought it would be a good idea to add McDonald’s and KFC to the “eat out to help out” 50% offer? All at the same time as launching an anti-obesity campaign??

I know these businesses employ a lot of people but they’ve been busy since lockdown was relaxed and will continue to do well!!
I feel like all they will do is make crap food cheaper and even more accessible!

McDonald’s and KFC can claim the 50% back from the government that the customer doesn’t pay - so they’re paying for this and the obesity campaign at the same time! Great idea!!

I've said the same to my husband. It's one shite idea after another from this government.

Also unsure why there's such a push to keep one particular industry going when there are many others on their knees and getting no help. It seems both shortsighted and unfair.
