Cat biting my little girl

I went out into our garden this morning and my little girl followed me out (enclosed garden no way she can get out) she started playing in her sand pit so I went back into the kitchen and left the door open, I was back and fore to the garden and back inside just pottering around. When I heard a scream, I ran out and my little girl was holding her hand saying the cat bite her, I asked her where the cat was and it was sitting on our garden chair but it was tucked under the table so I didn't see it when I was in the garden.
Now this car is known to be nasty, always hisses and shows its teeth at any neighbors who shoos it out of their gardens. This cat is constantly coming into our garden and sitting on our furniture.
Now I'm assuming my little girl has gone and tried to stroke the cat so not trying to make out she didn't do anything.
But aibu if I went and told the neighbour what had happened? Just to add we don't get along with these neighbours, neither does anyone in the street
Sorry for long post thank you x

Your child.
Your garden.
Not an RSPCA case.

Really sad post. Hate to hear of animals suffering.

Hope there is no lasting damage to your little girl. A water pistol should make your garden and unwelcome stoping ground for the poor cat.

Hopefully someone shows it some kindness, and gives it some food and outside shelter.

I think a little bit of compassion goes a long way, and while of course you won’t want to encourage in your garden, perhaps someone without small children could try and help. I know if it was in my neighbourhood I would be doing what I can. I fact I would trap it and take it to an animal shelter. Can’t stand animal cruelty.

@Ideasplease322 I think someone should do that. Sadly other PPs are right that it isn't a case that the RSPCA could do anything about as the poor cat isn't actually being abused and is probably being fed. But the owners may well not complain if a a caring person takes it away and gives it a good home somewhere else.

It's very sad, why have a cat and treat it like that? It's not fair on the neighbours either.

If there's a specific wall it comes over and you have an outside tap you can buy a motion activated sprinkler and set it up facing the access point.

Also just be careful to cover your daughter's sand or no doubt it will be crapping in there.

Mammaaof · 02/08/2020 10:24

@Ideasplease322 unfortunately my neighbour did start to feed it but he still attacked her so she has stopped now as she doesn't want to encourage the cat into her garden. As I was going out this morning someone from down the street said that the cat had sadly attacked her cat late last night and the cat had to be taken to the vets for treatment so it must have been bad 😓 just makes me thankful in a way that only a bite my daughter had could have been slot worse x

@SmileEachDay also my friend is a SW and I see her go there at least 3 times a week but we have never spoken about it for obvious reaons

at least three times a week... you see her? Do you spend a little of time looking out your window..... I wonder how you have time to get into your own garden.

I meant if you see her at least three times a week, she must be there every day?

I think you getting a dog will at least mean you get out a bit more, you need to!

Mammaaof · 02/08/2020 11:36

@doityourselfnow I'm disabled so unfortunately yes I do spend a lot of time just sitting and watching the world to by, that's why the garden is so important that I can go and sit in x

The cat clearly isn't suited to the life it had, it would be better rehoused on a farm as a mouser. It's pretty much a stray as it is, no food or proper care. I'm sure cats protection provide traps, neuter and re-home them as mousers if they're unsuitable as a pet.

It's probably unneutered which is why it's so aggressive.

If this cat is not being fed or looked after it would be better for its welfare if it were picked up by a local rescue - not the RSPCA.

Have you contacted one?
