I regret this daily but ds for his birthday in early June wanted a pair of trainers (from dreaded sports direct Angry ) not to let the boy down I looked for them elsewhere but as they were past seasons I ordered them from there.

All good until im watching tv one morning and receive an email to say they'd been delivered, so I go out to look incase the guy had dropped them and hidden them somewhere, cant find anything at all. So I open up the email to see if there were any notes to say where he left them - he only delivered them to a street 4 roads away from mine. (before anyone asks yes I have been round to knock at the same number but its an empty house up for sale so nobody answering).

I've since been in touch with sports direct and not surprised to hear I received nothing back from them. Same with myhermes - it is practically impossible to get in touch with anyone on there so I went through the whole system to be told that somebody would be in touch - ive done this at least 4 times now and yet to hear from anyone.

I paid through PayPal so opened a case and sports direct have uploaded the tracking number whereas I've uploaded screenshots of the item being delivered to a road thats not my address. PayPal now keep changing the date the case will be completed by and its gone from July 6th to august 4th.

Im £60 down, no trainers and owe my mum the £60 as she had to rush out and get them for me so he had something to open on his birthday.

Any ideas how else to get my money back now? its been almost 2 months now.

Tweet them? Facebook page? Try your best to shame on Social media. Other than that it’s just a waiting game I’m afraid. On the plus side, the two times I’ve raised a dispute with PayPal, it was successful. It’s just so annoying when you have to wait.

Can you call Sports Direct?

I had a similar issue with Hermes a couple of years back when I bought some stuff from Holland and Barrett...the guy said he delivered it and I signed for it, but I was at the cinema with a friend and my housemate who'd been at home the entire time confirmed nobody had delivered anything.

I got onto H&B, who told me the delivery guy had given them a description and it was definitely me, to which I asked how did they know what I looked like (they'd Googled me and it had not occurred to them that the delivery guy might have done the exact same thing) but since I had different colour hair than in the picture they'd seen online I was able to demonstrate that the delivery guy was lying and their customer services guy was a moron. I got my money back after I demanded it be escalated to a manager and will never shop there again. Still no idea why the delivery guy felt a box full of nut butter and chia seeds was worth pinching, but whatever.

They googled you?!

Shitfuckoh · 29/07/2020 14:46

@RincewindsHat reminds me of the time Hermes googled my address using street maps. They'd gone off that, opting for the nearest door to the 'marker' and that became 'my' door colour as well as ''your property is a end terrace'' er... Nope & nope but according to them they were right because google maps told them! Despite knowing myself whether the property I was in was an end terrace & whether my door colour was blue - it was not [shock[

Your contract is with SportsDirect. They should be providing the goods or refunding then it up to them to pursue any loss with the delivery company.

Chocoholic12 · 29/07/2020 15:11

Can't remember if was hermes or another company but i didnt received it and it said it had been delivered so I contacted them and they actually sent me a picture of the random door asking me to confirm the picture was my address so number 15 chocholic road (they stated this, my actual address). Then below was a picture of a door that said number 24. Was like.... umm... this might come as a surprise but no that's not 15 chocoholic road the door says bloody 24 for a start.

Flynn999 · 29/07/2020 15:35

If the house they have delivered them to is for sale, have you tried the house either side. Assuming they haven’t shoved the trainers through the door, they I assume will have given them to a neighbour?

^^ This. Always works for me.

I had an issue with Sports Direct last year for an item that was delivered faulty, item had to be collected by their courier who kept failing to turn up, they said they couldn’t refund until item was received back by them. This was also DS birthday present, eventually after phoning twice a day they gave me my money back without collecting the item. I just kept on, and on, I think the customer service lady refunded me just to get me off her case.

Got to laugh at the idea of people shaming Sports Direct on Twitter. If they had any sense of shame whatsoever they'd be a very different company altogether!

(Must say though, their pairing with Hermes is completely appropriate.)
