To be annoyed to have caught a cold given the amount of handwashing and distancing I have been doing?

Yes I know I am lucky it is not Covid. But honestly given the amount of distancing (lots), the amount of socialising (v little) and the amount of handwashing and mask wearing (loads) I am a bit surprised to have caught this nasty green snotty cold.

Are you sure it's a cold? It's been damp, lately. Lots of spores around.

Wherethereshope · 29/07/2020 00:17

I guess any contact with others will bring risk of colds etc.

caoixr · 29/07/2020 00:25

Oh no. I would be annoyed too, I have been hoping that cold viruses in general will reduce this year. Who do you think you caught it from?

stayathomer · 29/07/2020 00:25

Was talking about this with dh and saying hope all of this will stop as many cold etc this winter especially at school time.Sorry you're sick OP and yanbu!!!

PotholeParadise · 29/07/2020 00:33

I've just got my first cold since March, within 24 hours of saying how great it was I hadn't had one since March.

People, be warned. Don't jinx yourselves.

(On the plus side, it's one of the mildest colds I've ever had and I think it's because I'm having it while completely well. Is this what it's like if you don't keep getting them one after the other?)

LaurieFairyCake · 29/07/2020 00:34

I have no idea how people catch them without all the hugging and children licking us ConfusedGrin

How did you get it? Any idea who's sick around you ?

pigsDOfly · 29/07/2020 00:43

Oh that's very annoying.

Obviously all the things that help keep Covid at bay are no match for the common cold.

Hope it clears up soon.

Def a cold as it is on top of hayfever symptoms (sinusy) but is a cold with (tmi) thick green snot and sneezing. No temp, no cough, etc. It is easing off now but I have had the green snotty phase for a week and had a few days of very runny but not green, nose before that. I read that colds have a 1-3 day incubation period. So as to where I have caught it - one of my dc's has been at nursery so although they had no symptoms maybe through them. And I have been to the supermarket (in a mask etc). And I had to take public transport once (again in a mask with much hand washing and sterilising).
