To want to know if EHIC is valid despite FCO non essential travel guidance

I've tried searching the depths of the internet and would be grateful for any insight - is the European health care arrangement providing healthcare to EU citizens on the same terms as locals valid in countries that the FCO advises against travel to?

I'm not talking about private travel insurance which is not valid, and rightly so, but the EHIC provisions. Long and complicated back story involving probabably having to travel to family member in another EU country on the FCOs do not travel list, and I'd like to understand what the healthcare access situation is in case the worst happens.

Any advice much appreciated.

Yes that won't be affected. Well, until the end of the year obviously.

Thank you Max, I'm hoping that's the case. And who knows next year, maybe it's crazy expensive private insurance for all of us...

I've seen some people saying that you can get travel insurance for countries not on FCO list, but from specialist companies, and I assume more expensive than bog standard insurance.

Could your trip be classified as essential, if FCO allow essential trips?
