I've paid for next week's group holiday but no one has paid their contribution!

Weird situation. Going on UK holiday with a friend, her two friends and our 5 children. I agreed to pay for the whole thing on a spare credit card on the basis that they'd BACS me their contribution but I've not received a dime. I paid 5 weeks ago and we leave next Monday.

What's the standard protocol on this? I don't want to get into a situation where I have to chase them for money after the holiday, when they'd obviously be less inclined to pay or where I may get dribs and drabs over an extended period. Given the number of people coming it's obviously cost quite a bit.

My favourite holiday thread was the one with the creepy people in the next caravan in the caravan park. I also think it wasn't real but it entertained me during night feeds, so it's fine

To me, and apologies, but there have been so many mad threads on here that you really would have to scratch your head and think WTF?

The Mexican House theif was not real.

The person whose house/patio window was knocked down was not real

And so on.

But having said all that, the posts were entertaining up to the point where you get the spidey feeling of being taken onboard.

The listed building one. The new neighbours removed the window and put in the patio door. The grandma flew over from Spain and sat watch all day whilst making Sangria.

I vaguely remember thinking it was dodgy. Didn't it have 10 x 1k posts made and then vanished.

You send her a message now saying could she please transfer her payment over now as you are relying on that money for spending money whilst away. If she fobs you off then tell her as you are the only one who has paid you will invite someone else that is willing to pay or go alone with your kids.

OP Please can we have an update? Really hope it's all been sorted.

It is pay day for many today - no excuses.

Thx - probably best to keep it simple. I'm not from the UK so sometimes wonder if there is a different type of protocol for these things e.g. an assumption that everyone pays at the end. who knows!

I think it's best to be direct.
I put the entire cost on my credit card with the understanding you were all going to pay your share. Do you really think it is fair of you to saddle me with the entire debt and the interest I'll have to pay?

OP hasn't been back. I wonder if she got the money, or if they all pulled out.

I bet they haven't paid and they went on holiday anyway and they've promised to pay after the holiday etc.
OP's not going to come back and tell us that.

Get payment before the holiday begins. I can’t imagine watching people enjoy themselves on my credit card and spending their money which they should have repaid to me on things that I can’t afford.

If they don’t pay they don’t come, enjoy the holiday which you’ve paid for (and you this point you can be sure they won’t) with just your DC

It's deliberate. We get our hand grenades that do lush post wise and we get these ones where they do well without an update.
