I bought it a few days ago, it’s been in the fridge ever since. I noticed yesterday it had gone a horrible brown colour...sell by date is today?

It should be fine. I’d open the pack and let the initial whiff float off then the chances are it will be fine as long as it’s been kept in the fridge.

Emeraldshamrock · 28/07/2020 19:00

I would not use it.
Take a good sniff but it looks gone off.

mask2020 · 28/07/2020 19:01

It's fine , it's oxidised which is natural , just use it as normal

ChipsyChopsy · 28/07/2020 19:02

It's just oxidised. If you smell it, you will be left in no doubt if red meat has gone off. Takes a good while past sell by nonetheless.

Notajogger · 28/07/2020 19:20

Looks fine. Natural for red meat to go a little brown as it has contact with air.

DramaAlpaca · 28/07/2020 19:22

It's fine, it's oxidised as others have said.

Nottherealslimshady · 28/07/2020 19:23

I dont think I'd use it. Its probably safe but it looks rank. But then, I'm vegetarian.

MaltedMilk88 · 28/07/2020 19:26

I'd smell it, potentially cook a teaspoon in a pan and do the taste test first

SauvignonBlanketyBlank · 28/07/2020 19:27

If it smells vinegary its probably past its best

PoppySeedSaid · 28/07/2020 19:28

Not a chance from the look of it. But if it smells ok then go for it.

mintich · 28/07/2020 19:29

I wouldn't

Lulooo · 28/07/2020 19:29

I wouldn't use it. It looks off to me and I wouldn't risk it. If it smells a bit off too when you open it then definitely no.

Knowhowufeel2 · 28/07/2020 19:30

It's fine. Just cook it thoroughly.

RickOShay · 28/07/2020 19:32

Absolutely fine
Normal

ButterflyRuns · 28/07/2020 19:33

I wouldn't personally

GoshHashana · 28/07/2020 19:34

It looks like repulsive worms.

Snowpatrolling · 28/07/2020 19:36

No but only Cos I’ve had really bad food poisoning from gone off mince before!
It was bloody in date aswell!
Normally I have a cast iron stomach and don’t worry to much. but that one done it for me!

MadeForThis · 28/07/2020 19:37

Go by the smell

ForeverBubblegum · 28/07/2020 19:37

If it smells ok I'd use it, make sure it's well cooked but it will be fine.

purrswhileheeats · 28/07/2020 19:37

Try rinsing it Wink

FoxtrotOscarPoppet · 28/07/2020 19:38

I wouldn’t chance it 🤢

SummerHouse · 28/07/2020 19:39

I would have no problem using a tin of mushy peas from 2011.

That?

No.

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 28/07/2020 19:40

Oh hell no. I can't even stand to look at mince when it's gone grey, just looks wrong.

CandyCaneLane0 · 28/07/2020 19:40

It'll be fine if it smells okay

AdoptAdaptImprove · 28/07/2020 19:40

No. It’ll smell odd, I’ll bet, when you open it, if not before you cook it then as you do.
