Without partner or kids. I get home half 4 after working 8 hour day having got up 5:45 and driven 40 minutes each day. I feel absolutely exhausted. How do you fill your evenings?

Exercise, house jobs, cook a meal, muck about on the internet, tv then bed. I’m quite dull.

happydays00 · 28/07/2020 17:38

It's an early-ish start for you @op but getting home at 4:30pm is amazing! Pre DH and kids I would go to the gym either before work (leave the house at 5:45am) or leave the house at 7:30am and go to the gym after work so getting home at approx 7:45pm. Commute was usually 1-1.5 hours each way. I'd then either watch some tv, take the dog for a walk, meet friends, go to the cinema, go to a restaurant.... oh the memories. Now it's just nursery runs, cooking 4 variations of the same meal and then bath and bed routines before DH and I crash out in front of the TV 😬

Lonelylockdown22 · 28/07/2020 17:40

@happydays00 wow, I could not do 3 hours of commuting per day!

I work 5-1 and home for 1:15, I tend to do about an hours housework, then have lunch, if kids are not home I then do an hour or two of uni work then flop out in front of the tv. Kids and dp home for tea time, we alternate kids bedtime routine between us so spend an hour with whichever ds I am having my night with, once in bed I have an hour with dp watching tv/chatting before I am in bed for 9. Very boring, when I’m not up for work at 3:50am I tend to stay up longer, dp isn’t interested in board games or cards or anything so we just watch tv/go on our phones, me and kids will often have movie nights/board game nights. We don’t often go anywhere in the late evening

katy1213 · 28/07/2020 17:47

Cook dinner - read - book club still happening - go for a walk - go out for an ice-cream - read the paper - crosswords - online plays/concerts etc from various theatres, sadly the NationalTheatre ones are now over - chat to friends on phone or online. Zoom seminars in subjects that interest me.
In some ways, I've been more active than pre-lockdown when I'd probably go to the cinema or theatre once a week.
Wish I could kick the Mumsnet habit that has crept up on me! Such a waste of time!

Twatalert · 28/07/2020 18:12

Exercise. Shower. Dinner. TV or a jigsaw or talking to friend on phone. In this order.

Solaran · 28/07/2020 18:17

I exercise every day so after work usually go for a swim, run, cycle or class. Sometimes I exercise in the mornings but that usually means I have to finish work a bit later (I’m on flexi time). After exercise it’s shower, make dinner and then watch a movie or box set (I don’t watch tv outside of this) or read, or go online. Or I might go out for dinner and a drink once or twice during the week. Weekends are different as will either have plans during the day or the evening for most weekends.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 28/07/2020 18:17

Eat
Netflix

WanderingMilly · 28/07/2020 18:20

Cooking/eat supper. Clear up.
Sometimes cleaning or the washing, or catch up with the ironing. Read the newspapers or a book/magazines. TV on, sometimes I watch a specific programme but often keep it on in the background.

Work online, some language learning, catch up with e-mails, telephone calls etc. Go for a walk down the lanes if it's a lovely warm evening....if I had a garden I'd be out in that instead.

Pre-COVID I would be out and about much more...restaurant, meeting friends, evening classes (yoga etc) evening swim session, having family or neighbours over for a meal, salsa class. Can't wait for everything to start up again....

Jammydodger6 · 28/07/2020 18:22

Go for a run, cook dinner, read, watch rubbish reality tv, match betting, relaxing bath, waste time on iPad games. I need to get out more.

BackforGood · 28/07/2020 20:44

Normally or while we are all locked in ?

I'm out probably 3 evenings a week. I'm in a choir then I will often have at least one, often two, and occasionally 3 evenings a week with things I volunteer with.
When I'm not going out, I'll often work (for my job) in the evenings.
From about 10, I'll sit and catch up with e-mails, and / or MN whilst catching up with a bit of TV.
(Obvs, fit in prepping meal / eating / clearing up afterwards, into evening too).

Lazypuppy · 28/07/2020 20:51

Pretty much watch tv after dinner

GinDrinker00 · 28/07/2020 21:01

After putting the kids to bed, I tidy up usually have company over or Netflix binge. Smile
If I’m lucky I get to read in peace too!
I’m not really a going out person, I’ve joined the WI but waiting for the COVID19 restrictions to be lifted but even that’s once a month.

garlictwist · 28/07/2020 21:10

I am same as you. No kids and alone and usually home by five (although wfh at the mo). I read, play guitar, watch tv, eat a sandwich an usually go to bed by 830 as I've had enough.

yelyah22 · 28/07/2020 21:13

When I finish work-work, piss about on my phone for a bit, gym some days, cook, eat, bath, TV or some freelance work, more phone pissing about, bed.

Sometimes I might do a bit of online studying for a course I'm taking or call one of my parents.

yelyah22 · 28/07/2020 21:16

If you want some online courses, by the way - Future Learn have loads that are free and really interesting/good skill building! That's how I filled the gym part of my time during lockdown haha :)

JorisBonson · 28/07/2020 21:21

Not much during the week. I commute 1 hour 40 each way so don't feel like being too active in the evening!

Dinner, couple of drinks in the garden if the weather is nice enough, bit of a tidy up and a box set.

Weekends we are much more exciting and tend to go out for drinks or dinner or I'll go out with friends.

JorisBonson · 28/07/2020 21:22

I'm also in the 8.30 bed brigade as I'm up at 5am (WFH tomorrow, god bless it)

MaidenMotherCrone · 29/07/2020 06:51

I'm up at 5 and leave at 6.30 to start at 7.30.
Work 12hrs and home for 8.30pm.

I don't tend to eat at home after work. I catch up with my DH and (adult) DC, sometimes watch a tv programme, snuggle my cats, shower then bed at 10.

I do 4 on 4 off so it's quite good actually.

Bluesheep8 · 29/07/2020 07:14

Finish WFH at 4pm. Go for a walk for an hour, speak to family on the phone, make and eat dinner, read in the bath, watch TV then bed at 9pm.....and repeat.

Shoxfordian · 29/07/2020 07:19

We're both working from home full time at the moment

We watch tv, play on the playstation together, do a jigsaw, play a board game, read a book, have friends over for dinner- not all on the same night!

vanillandhoney · 29/07/2020 07:28

Watch TV or films
Mess about online
Cook dinner
Play board or video games together
Sit out in the garden if it's nice
Play with the dog
Get sat on by the cats and use it as an excuse not to move Grin

PinkPlantCase · 29/07/2020 07:34

I end up working most evenings 😏 We generally rotate between the following though, with or without the work laptop.

-cooking
-knitting
-playing with the chickens
-film
-tv
-going for a walk
-playing board games
-face timing friends/family.

Me and DH used to sit and chat whilst listening to music, I love those evenings and still have them occasionally.

Bouledeneige · 29/07/2020 08:12

Go for a walk. Cook dinner. Internet and TV, bath.

Sheknowsaboutme · 29/07/2020 09:55

Walk. Most nights in the sun wind rain. Weather wont stop me. Can be a mountain or just an amble. Last night was 8 miles. Just me and saw absolutely no one.
