To cancel my wedding

tocancel · 28/07/2020 17:06

It's next spring (early April) and I'm not sure it will go ahead due to covid.

I know no one has the answer but if it were you, would you cancel?

Not yet

I'd leave it until the new year and see how things are

FudgeBrownie2019 · 28/07/2020 17:28

No, I'd wait and see how things go. Do you have adequate insurance in case it does need to be rearranged?

KeepingPlain · 28/07/2020 17:28

No but I'd just reduce the numbers and plan for a bigger reception the year after.

edwinbear · 28/07/2020 17:29

No, I wouldn't, I'd wait and see how things pan out.

Rae36 · 28/07/2020 17:31

Is it near your home? Or at least in this country? If I was asking 40 guests to book foreign travel I might postpone now before they spend any money. Otherwise I would wait. I can imagine its really frustrating though, not being 100% sure it will go ahead as planned.

donquixotedelamancha · 28/07/2020 17:44

Depends on:

  1. Do you have to shell out money between now and then?
  2. Will it bother you if it has to be small?

Ours is May next year and we're just planning as normal and hoping for the best ATM. We've paid all our deposits and nothing else has to be paid until 4 weeks before, so I guess then will be the time for the decision to be made. Ours is close to home and only my sister and her husband would be coming from overseas, so makes it a bit easier. Good luck!

As a middle aged woman, I say get married with your closest family and friends. The marriage is much more important than the wedding.

Of course, in my younger days, I probably would have said wait and have the big wedding.
