The kitchen sink is brown ffs!

And that estate agents are cunts. I'm in deep dispute with ours due to my stove being unsafe and kitchen cabinates falling off the walls.
I'm looking around for somewhere else. The search process is more depressing than my dodgy stove :(

Oh wow no that is not a modern kitchen at all!

HappyPunky · 28/07/2020 16:09

Bit of a reach for the toilet roll in the bathroom too!!

Glitteryone · 28/07/2020 16:10

The house isn’t modern at all!

However in non housing terms, I still think of the 90s as modern and just a few years ago (I know it’s not but my brain somehow likes to think it was).

Have you read the biog "About Us" section of the estate agent whose link you posted?

They're hardly experienced. They've used any old word to describe something to get a viewing.

I think YABVU to even focus on this as a thing. Overblown descriptions are the stock in trade of estate agents. It's not the trade descriptions act. It's an invitation to go and see something.

That is one whole yike. O_O

@GinDaddyRedux

They are the estate agent I'm with now. I know exactly how shite they are Grin We've been intouch with the council to come out and check for safety. Im very close to 'sad face in local paper' with them.

I just had a nosey to see what was out there. I wouldnt ever rent with them again

Actually I wonder if they have just assumed Modern is a synonym for New.

Because that kitchen does not look like its 30/40 year old (or even 10).

Its a... dated? style, not my choice certainly. But it is clean and actually looks fairly new; no doors hanging off, no obvious ageing on the counters, or years old grease stains that never move no matter what you do.

Its a crap descriptor but basically I think the estate agent definition of modern is: newish, with a shiny hob, plug sockets for more than a kettle, and possibly all the correct appliance holes. or in even broader terms modern = you don't have to refit it before you can cook.

GinDaddyRedux · 28/07/2020 16:24

I don't think any of that lot are even thinking that deeply about the word. It's just a nothingy word that might appeal to some people, maybe.

It's just a term to fill the template - it's the pictures, the price, the need for someone to move, those are the things that get a property off the books.

Pelleas · 28/07/2020 16:28

My kitchen sink is brown and the house wasn't even built till 2006 so I don't think you can say a brown sink is exclusive to the 80s/90s.
