Nothings ever good enough when it comes to my mother. Would this annoy you?

A close friend of my mums made my daughter some cupcakes for her birthday two weeks ago (I paid for the ingredients) and to say thank you, I bought her a card and a nice box of chocolates. My mum offered to drop them round yesterday as she was popping there for a cuppa. I've just received a message from the lady thanking me for the lovely card, chocolates and... flowers.

My mum has obviously bought the flowers and told her there from me. I know she means well but it's made me feel utterly shit, as if my little gift wasn't good enough. I won't say anything or fall out with her about it as it's such a trivial and petty annoyance in the grand scheme of things but she does have form for doing things like this especially at Christmas. It's as if no one else can buy a nice gift. Would this annoy you?

It would annoy me that she got her flowers and claimed they were from me when they weren't

I guess it depends how often stuff happens and to what degree as to how annoyed I'd get

I’d just a reply saying, oh the flowers were from my mum. Really pleased you liked the chocolates :)

Lol, mums. In the scheme of things this isn't so bad but it's annoying when it happens.

One year we decided to cut down on Christmas presents and weeded out a few older nephews and nieces. MIL gave all the ones on DH's side money in a card on our behalf Hmm
