We decided to cancel this year because we were concerned about having to isolate if anyone on the plane was found to have covid, and also because we thought it was too much money or a holiday that was potentially not going to be as good as pre/post covid what with masks, social distancing etc. But now I keep seeing pictures on Facebook etc of people seemingly having amazing holidays abroad. I also feel bad for my dc who've complied with home learning and been cooped up for months and should be on a lovely holiday nowSad

Greece has handled it well - I’d have gone, but you did what you felt was right. There’s always spring - Easter would be fabulous.

@Bemorechicken

We cancelled 3 holidays abroad so far this year. We have a small house in house and had booked at Easter, May and to go for 4 weeks in the summer. I don't regret cancelling it for a second. We cancelled the lot. I'm off for the next 4 weeks or so. We've been pond dipping, in the woods, the zoo, three NT places, and today a beach trip - and same tomorrow. We were up and at the beach by 8am and after a lovely 4 hours -fish and chips and in the car home. I have to say I'm loving it. It is was it is. If I think about "my holiday and what I'm missing- French bread, cheese, pate, peaches.........wine argh! in our second home" I'm well peed off -but I can't just can't think like that -I'm going for the -buy some expensive bread, pate, cheese and peachers from tesco and nice wine and put a film on here and just enjoying it. It could be much worse. I for one and grateful not to be on a ventilator.
Agreed. It's fine to feel disappointed but you can always make the best of it. Still take your week off work and do something. We are off from next Friday and although our holiday is cancelled we are still putting the dog in the kennels and doing a couple of trips away and days out. We are staying away from the beaches but will be in London next weekend - much quieter there and aircon in the hotel rooms! Will do several days out too over the rest of the week. We were thinking about a trip to Norfolk but a PP comment about it being rammed has put me off! Due to finances our kids didn't go abroad for the first 8 years of their life and now at 15 and 13 have still only had a couple of hols overseas. It hasn't done them any harm nor us. Personally I don't want to be a part of possibly spreading this virus further and I'm not sure at this point that international travel is the best idea so I'm ok to stay put.

Really trying to think hard about 2021 holidays

Totally same experience here. Straight through airport, only flight running at the time, not one single queue. Best airport and journey we’ve every had. Plane looked and smelled super clean. No one in same row as us. Fab. Once away, no queues for beaches, shops, restaurants. Busy enough not to be like a ghost town but manageable and pleasant. We were all saying it was the best holiday we’ve had in ages. Villa plus private pool. So easy.

Same here in Turkey, sailed through both airports. Plane full as had some last minute bookings from cancelled spain travellers but masks worn and no getting out of seats willy nilly. Masks mandatory everywhere in turkey but in reality pretty much the same as the UK ie in shops, public transport etc and also wearing them when we are in busier areas. We're in a villa so natural SD but out and about for meals, trips etc as we normally would be. Certainly no queues for beaches etc. We have travel insurance that covers us for C19 but if people are still wanting to fly to Spain and islands then battleface insurance cover even when its against gov advice to fly.

Yes this was our experience in Turkey last week as well and most activities/day trips also going ahead. We had a villa too, where did you stay Watching?

We are in Dalyan, about 30 mins from Dalaman airport.

We've just arrived back from a smaller Greek island- glorious holiday. No real restrictions- staff in visors and masks to be worn in supermarkets and on the bus. But bars and restaurants were still buzzy and welcoming albeit with spaced tables.

I'd be upset in your shoes, as Greece seems to have had less cases and has a sensible response.
