I don't even care. We're meant to get 35 degrees here this week. One of my kids has forgotten how to sleep in the heat. I want to get the winter duvet out again, wear layers, and be able to drink tea. Lovely colourful leaves on the trees. Mist. Frost. Shivering. Bring it all.

I’m with you on this one. I can’t wait for autumn (even though it means I will be back at work). I was chilly this morning and looking longingly at the fire. I put a jumper on instead though.

doadeer · 27/07/2020 16:53

Oh I love autumn clothes. I like my Chelsea boots and jeans and luscious big coats in beautiful colours. I had Christmas oil in my diffuser this week and it was bliss. I love autumn and winter in many ways

ladylunchalot · 27/07/2020 16:57

Come to Scotland op, it never gets too hot, sadly. It's been like autumn here for weeks - think we had our summer in May. It's supposed to be warm here on Friday but I'm not holding my breath.

ZeldalovesLink · 27/07/2020 16:58

YANBU. I was just thinking this morning how much I’m looking forward to cool, crisp days and the smell of woodsmoke, lighting a fire, baking with apples, walking in the woods with the leaves turning. It’s the best season, hands down.

linerforlife · 27/07/2020 17:01

Yesss I'm in! I have a newborn and took to my bed today to snuggle them and listen to the rain and pretend it was autumn! Watched a bit of downtown abbey and looked at winter outfits on Pinterest!! Can't wait for autumn this year.

anon5000 · 27/07/2020 17:01

YABU. Autumn is dark, miserable, rainy and windy.

Not the romanticised version loved on MN.

Wolfgirrl · 27/07/2020 17:17

After the year we have had @anon5000 why do you want to take our hope away?

YANBU OP I just hope we get a nice autumn with frosts and crisp air.

Can't wait to put my cosy bedding on, take DD for long walks in the leaves & make chicken soup.

Rockbird · 27/07/2020 17:19

Count me in. Luckily July is almost over then we're skidding to September and the best part of the year starts. God only knows what it'll be like this year but at least I won't be hot!

Glitteryone · 27/07/2020 17:37

YANBU at all! Autumn is the best season of the whole year.

To be fair though it feels like autumn here currently in the north of Ireland. The only thing that’s missing is the dark evenings and coloured leaves.

I love dark, rainy, windy and cloudy.

Miserable? Gloomy? A matter of opinion.

For me, it's cozy, comfy.

SpeedofaSloth · 27/07/2020 17:41

I'm with you. I am eyeing up a new big coat with autumn in mind, love it.

SillyUnMurphy · 27/07/2020 17:47

I’m with you OP. I absolutely love Autumn

camelsandcaramel · 27/07/2020 17:47

I'm with you too!! It hit 51 degrees / 85% humidity here today!! What I'd do for a pair of jeans, a jumper and a walk in a lush green park!!

For me, forget Autumn, I love Dec, Jan, Feb in the Middle East!

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 27/07/2020 17:47

Yes! I can't wait for winter. I'm done with summer now. It's wet and cold here anyway, just not cold enough for boots and big jackets, so roll on the proper cold weather, and darker nights.

Exactly. As far as I'm concerned autumn can fuck off. I'd rather like some kind of proper summer first. It doesn't seem to be too much to ask.
mogloveseggs · 27/07/2020 17:49

Me! I'm fed up of daylight it's so bright all the time even in stormy lancashire
Wet and wild here today and yesterday-wonderful.
Smelly candle on, cheesy hallmark movie and some cross stitch. Just what I needed.

WanderingMilly · 27/07/2020 17:50

I too can't wait. I want chilly nights and to be able to wear my pullover again, not the humid, muggy heat we've had recently.
Sadly I will be back to work in the Autumn but as I really want things to get back to normal now, I guess I shan't even mind that so much.....

WokusPocus · 27/07/2020 17:54

I love, love, love Autumn - the whole period between September and Christmas is great. However, this year I am trying not to let myself get too excited too early - I shouldn't really have opened this thread!

soundsystem · 27/07/2020 18:00

YANBU

My daughter excitedly said "ooh, it's nearly Autumn last week", wicking away the Summer holidays :)

But I do love Autumn!

TheSweetestHalleluja · 27/07/2020 18:08

I like the cosiness of autumn, I'm hoping August will be nice weather but not the humid/muggy weather we've been having recently.

I've even ordered a lakeland cake storage container ready to bake my Christmas Cake soon.....

toomuchtooold · 27/07/2020 19:28

I love getting to the Christmas cake planning. I did Delia Smith's one last year but I might mix it up this year. I got an old second hand book of recipes from Ena Baxter that has one, I'm thinking of using that.

YABVVVU. Let's have some summer first! Apart from a couple of odd days it's been a miserable washout so far, like last year was. I've had the heating on for a bit again this evening it's so cold. I feel so much better when it's warm and light. I can wear my nice non constricting clothes and sit outside with my dinner and a bit of sun on my skin. I'm going through a shitty divorce and health problems and just want a little bit of mid year cheer before the long and depressing decline into winter starts.

Sheknowsaboutme · 27/07/2020 21:37
