To dress dd up as dracula for World Book Day as we have no other costume?

It's a book after all! I'm working and have no time to get a costume, I only remembered today, I'm a bad mum. But would it be so bad to put her in a vampire costume and send her as Dracula?

No. It is a classic piece of literature after all.

uberalice · 30/09/2007 21:12

No, I think it's a great idea. How cool.

Rhubarb · 30/09/2007 21:14

Thank you! Despite her best protests at wanting to be the BFG, she is going to be bloody Dracula whether she likes it or not! I think if you look on my profile at her pic, it would rather suit her after all!

No
I helped dd make a tank (with a gun wielding soldier) for big craft competition in school and was wondering how it would go down.

She came first!

Rhubarb · 30/09/2007 21:20

Cool! She is soooooo gonna be the coolest kid! I'm more excited than she is! She's just scowling at me.

Dracula is, as rolledhedgehog says, a classic piece of literature.
No doubt all the others will turn up as harry potter.
I am sighing at the memory of Gary Oldman in the film of Bram Stoker's Dracula...

FabulousKbear · 30/09/2007 21:27

oh FFS not World blood flaming Book Week again. I can't stand it. I'm going to write a note, "please can the kbears be excused due to having enough to do frankly and lack of imagination"

moondog · 30/09/2007 21:45

God yes.And as for that 'Read a million words' crap.Frankly money spent on PR,keyrings, posters and other assorted crap would be better spent on....BOOKS.

emj23 · 30/09/2007 22:13

Oh god, when's this? If it's as much trouble as last year I may consider keeping DS home instead.

Nightynight · 30/09/2007 22:19

thank god World Book Day doesnt seem to have hit Germany yet. there is still something to be thankful for.

Rhubarb · 30/09/2007 22:21

It's Thurs here, dunno if that's the same as everywhere though.

southeastastra · 30/09/2007 22:21

HELP ideas for 10 yr old girl for world book day, it's a difficult age and everything I suggest is not cool or too young, any suggestions would be gratefully receivedSmile

PunkChick · 22/02/2012 05:56

grins A suggestion? Mind out for dates, this thread's over 4 years old! xXx

complexnumber · 22/02/2012 07:00

Twofairies, DD1 is disappointed that there is no World Book day dressing up at her school. She likes My Sister The Vampire series and was going to dress up as whichever of the two is the vampire so goth clothes with vampire face and teeth. Easy, as she wears a lot of black for a 10 year old.

laluna · 22/02/2012 08:50

My 10 yr old DD is going as Veruca Salt. Dress, fur wrap thing, toy squirrel and golden ticket.

WordsAreNoUseAtAll · 22/02/2012 08:52

Eek, DDs school are great fans of sending letters out the night before for things like this.

startail · 22/02/2012 09:09

My 10 year old went in ordinary clothes and said she was an ordinary teen from the Cathy Casidy books.
They've said dressing up again and I'll have an equally unhelpful 11 year old.

sparkle12mar08 · 22/02/2012 09:19

Five years old? The thread is FIVE YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Twofairiesandapixie · 22/02/2012 18:24

Ialuna that is a great idea thanks, I know it's old thread that hasn't stopped some people being helpful, thanks to those who were.

IvantaOuiOui · 22/02/2012 19:10

my daughter is going as someone with the plague as she has a book about it. She's got fake boils, a toy rat and I have to make an orange studded with cloves...

TheOneWithTheHair · 22/02/2012 19:20

Oh crap. When is it. Ds is 3. What can he go as? Please help.

Twofairiesandapixie · 22/02/2012 19:52

In our school it's a week tomorrow, some of my dd friends who are 4 are going as pirate, spiderman, George pig, buzz light year, hope that helps. Smile

Twofairiesandapixie · 22/02/2012 19:55
