To find people who dislike animals a bit cold in general

Yes it’s probably goady. Yes I’ve made an apt name change but...

Honestly - anyone I’ve ever met who’s “not an animal person” always seems to be a bit... off.

I’m not talking about those who are say scared of dogs, or a bit mistrustful of cats. I mean those who are very much “it’s just an animal” (and no I don’t include farmers in this either.

I know plenty of people who are nervous of animals and they’re lovely / but have known maybe around 3 people who really are jist “who cares” and they are not so nice.

I wouldn't even notice a dog in a park to be honest. I would assume it's owner was nearby. Whereas I would know that a child crying for their mum was lost.

I once found a stray dog on a country road and returned it to its owner and was pleased that I had done the right thing, until a few days later when I discovered that I had actually returned it to a puppy farm. That made me question the wisdom of getting involved - that poor dog would have had a better life if it had been knocked down and killed. I felt very guilty about 'rescuing' it.

Tinhatattheready · 26/07/2020 20:39

Films, cartoons whatever - if you don’t cry over them - fine you don’t. But you do know that most people do - or do you not? If not / tbf you’re the sort of cold I’m talking about tbh.

Plenty of so-called animal lovers out there who have pets (sorry, "fur babies") to suit their needs, or eat meat. Or both.

Plenty of so-called non-animal lovers who support wildlife charities.

What's your point OP? That you have to love dogs to be a reasonable human being?

DollyPartons · 26/07/2020 20:40

Complete shite op, if you're after goady. I know serious ex criminals , love their animals, couldn't care that much for humans!

People who are not into pets generally not around them whilst younger. Maybe told such an animal wasn't nice so grew up not bothered. No big offence.

isabellerossignol · 26/07/2020 20:40
@isabellerossignol Christ don’t ever take your children to see Disney. You can berate them afterwards for getting upset about “cartoons”.
My kids are older now. They never got upset by watching a Disney film. And I've certainly never berated children for showing emotions, where did you get that idea from?

Babdoc · 26/07/2020 20:40

People who say they like animals often seem to only like the fluffy cute ones! Bald slimy amphibians seem excluded, along with anything ugly, venomous or savage.

Personally I can’t stand dogs. Have been attacked by them in the past. Would give a stray dog a wide berth rather than assistance. But I’m v attached to my cat, understand cat behaviour, and find most of them appealing. Possibly because I’m autistic, and cats share some autistic traits!

unoeufisunoeuf1 · 26/07/2020 20:41

Hmm. One of my relatives is vegan, but doesn't want pets and isn't really an "animal person" by your definition. She cares about animals and the environment though.

She'd probably consider you pretty cold for eating pig meat (especially as pigs and piglets are intelligent, cute creatures).

PablosHoney · 26/07/2020 20:41

With all due respect you have no point, saying that I will always remember you when I watch Lion King or Hotel Rwanda 😂😂 I’ll never forget that comparison.

PyongyangKipperbang · 26/07/2020 20:42

@Macncheeseballs

I've always thought that people who love animals more than humans pefer to hang out with creatures who don't argue with them
:o Couldnt agree more!

I am "meh" about animals, dont hate them, dont love them. I do abhor the neglect and abuse of them, of course I do, but I just dont feel any particular need to interact with them.

If that makes me cold, so be it but my family and friends would tell you different.

isabellerossignol · 26/07/2020 20:42

Do most people? I've watched films with family, with friends, with younger people, with older people, in the cinema, at home. I could count on one hand the number of times I, or anyone I have been with, have cried at a film. I honestly would never have thought that most people cry at films.
Tinhatattheready · 26/07/2020 20:44

@isabellerossignol well I’ve watched films with many and generally if something is emotional people react.
You only need to watch an episode of say google box to see tjst people from all walks of life react.

Wow at Bambi/ Rwanda thing

Tinhatattheready · 26/07/2020 20:44

To be honestly you’re sort of proving my “cold” theory,

OP posts:
PablosHoney · 26/07/2020 20:45

That’s as maybe, want to know how you are coming across..

Tinhatattheready · 26/07/2020 20:45

@ShinyFootball yes you’re right - and sorry that was an awful example (it happened to be the last two films I’d watched).

OP posts:
isabellerossignol · 26/07/2020 20:46

@Tinhatattheready

To be honestly you’re sort of proving my “cold” theory,
Well, that's a novelty for me since I have spent most of my life being told that I am overly emotional Confused
SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 26/07/2020 20:48

Deffo.

ShinyFootball · 26/07/2020 20:48

I don't think there can be many people on the planet at all who are ambivalent to/ dislike all species of animals on the planet! All the types of bird, fish, mammal, amphibian, reptile and so on

ZeldalovesLink · 26/07/2020 20:48

There’s basically no difference between a pig and a dog in terms of intelligence etc. so if you eat pigs surely the only logical conclusion is you don’t like animals?

So OP, why do you think people who don’t like dogs are cold but you’re somehow exempt from that just because the animals you happily pay to have treated cruelly and killed on your behalf aren’t traditionally kept as pets?

Surely that exposes the fundamental flaw in your reasoning?

Tinhatattheready · 26/07/2020 20:49

@PablosHoney go on do tell me? Yes my film examples were badly judged and I’ve apologised for that. But do tell me

OP posts:
PablosHoney · 26/07/2020 20:49

If you point out any glaring flaws then you must be cold.

amysaurus87 · 26/07/2020 20:50

I was bitten by a dog as a teenager and chased by a puppy as a child. I dont like dogs and will actively cross the road to avoid them...its tough as my LB loves dogs 🙄 you could show me pictures of 100 puppies or dogs and you'd get no 'awww' out of me...doesn't make me 'cold'

PablosHoney · 26/07/2020 20:51

I’ll let you read it all back and get there yourself

Tinhatattheready · 26/07/2020 20:52

@amysaurus87 I did say I the Op that those who are scared are different. Sorry that happened to you

OP posts:
Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/07/2020 20:53

I’m only really interested in them when they’re adorable little babies.
