Restaurant vouchers

To use vouchers or not? We are going out for dinner later, our first since January.
I never twigged when OH booked a table that it's the same place we have vouchers for from Christmas that he is more than happy to use. I on the other hand don't think we should as businesses are struggling enough at the minute. What do you think- use or not to use?

Obviously use them. Then plan another dinner date soon at the same place if you really like it.
Or make a night of it and order some fancy cocktails / champagne that you might not have had (assuming the vouchers just cover meal & basic drinks)

Use them

daisychain1620 · 26/07/2020 17:27

Maybe I'm over thinking but I just imagine the staff being pissed that we've used vouchers when they might need the actual money

Defo use them !! And like pp say, order a fancy cocktail or extra nice bottle of wine

otterbaby · 26/07/2020 17:28

We used some recently but made sure that we spent over the voucher amount so we still paid a bit of cash. And left a good tip. Can you do that?

daisychain1620 · 26/07/2020 17:30

Thanks for answering 😘. This site is so helpful! Yes we'll order desserts and a few extras. Our meal will definitely be more than the vouchers so maybe that's ok then!

The staff won't care.

Have a great time!

Invisimamma · 26/07/2020 17:31

Why wouldn't you use them? They might go bust soon and then you'll have lost your money.

We have lots of gift vouchers and are planning to use them up when 'eat out to help out' is on.

LittleRa · 26/07/2020 17:35

Use them. Quite a few restaurants were advertising vouchers to buy during lockdown to give them some income while closed, obviously if people have bought vouchers they have to expect they’re going to be used. Will the vouchers cover your whole bill or will you maybe buy drinks on top?

daisychain1620 · 26/07/2020 17:37

@Invisimamma I didn't want to use them incase they need the money (yes logic would state that I'd lose my vouchers, I guess I'm a push over lol) but I probably will use then but just make sure we'll be well over so they gain income too

I'm actually quite excited and even putting on make up, if I can find it Grin

^^This.

And, in my case, "Yes, I will have a 2nd cheeseboard all to myself, please" (assuming that I liked the selection of cheeses that they served).

Cbatothinkofausername · 26/07/2020 17:54

Use them! I work in a restaurant and we‘be had several tables in with vouchers, including expired ones. We haven’t minded whatsoever. Anyway people always spend more!

Remember that people using their vouchers is getting that member of staff a shift. And tips hopefully Grin
