Eyebrow threading VS waxing - which is better

GetOutOfMyPub1 · 25/07/2020 17:28

I normally get my brows waxed, but have heard from many people that threading is better. If you have had both done then which gives a better result? Also, is threading painful? It looks it! Looking forward to getting my brows done on the 1st either way Grin

I prefer threading, much less painful in my experience

Enderman · 25/07/2020 17:31

I find threading really painful. I get mine waxed then they thread the stray hairs. Always a good job, can’t wait until it reopens and they can fix my stray brows!

Miniminiminimini · 25/07/2020 17:31

I got my eyebrows threaded for years and HATED it - I have zero pain tolerance - switched to waxing and I actually quite enjoy getting them waxed.

I’ve noticed zero difference in appearance but I have almost no eyebrows left after the furious plucking of my youth Grin

If you have proper eyebrows threadings apparently meant to look more defined.

Threading kills me. It's a much better finish but waxing is much less painful. I cannot stand the pain of threading.

MitziK · 25/07/2020 17:34

Threading stings, especially when you're due on. If you hold down your eyelid/stretch the skin as instructed, it's easier and more accurate.

It's often a bit cheaper, too, as well as being accurate.

Waxing is quick and less uncomfortable on the whole, as it's done so quickly.

Whether one is better than another, I wouldn't say, as most threading places will happily wax (especially if you're like me with two very hungry caterpillars crawling across my face about to meet at my nose/hairline) and then tidy up the individual hairs with thread.

I'd say go for wax + thread shape if you do have a lot of 'tidying' to do.

Quackersandcheese3 · 25/07/2020 17:36

If you can deal with waxing pain you can deal with threading pain . I’d say threading goes on a bit longer so slightly more painful because of that. I’d say shape is better with threading .

Jumblebumblemess · 25/07/2020 17:38

I much prefer threading. You get a much better shape overall I think. As I currently have 2 caterpillars on my face waiting for them to reopen I will be at the front of the queue! I have not touched them since lockdown and they look horrendous.

GetOutOfMyPub1 · 25/07/2020 17:52

Thanks everyone. They are super thick and over grown at the moment so I think I'll get them waxed this first time, then try threading when they're next due to be done and aren't so bushy 😂

I prefer waxing, just rips it all off in a jiffy and I can get out of there. Threading seems to take ages.

omg35 · 25/07/2020 17:58

Threading hurts me. Plus getting my eyebrows done is my only nod to vanity so I want to lie back and relax, not contort my arms into strange positions!

Peccary · 25/07/2020 18:01

Threading does hurt more and the positions are pretty awkward (I have no choice as allergic to wax)

heartsonacake · 25/07/2020 18:02

I prefer waxing; I found threading very painful.

BBCONEANDTWO · 25/07/2020 18:05

Threading takes longer but it Is more accurate IMO. I also think that long term it's probably a lot more gentle on the skin area of your eyes - waxing is quick but the skin is being pulled really hard which you don't get with threading.

totallyyesno · 25/07/2020 18:05

I have only had threading or plucking. I prefer plucking. Threading makes me sneeze and is a bit more painful.

happymummy12345 · 25/07/2020 18:40

I have quite sensitive skin. I used to get mine threaded, it hurt a lot, it felt like it took ages to do, my eyes watered really badly and my skin stayed red for hours afterwards. I thought if that's how I react to threading then waxing would be even worse and I always said I'd never get them waxed.
Anyway the beauty therapist who used to do my nails suggested I tried waxing. So I did. I expected it to feel like my skin was being ripped off and be extremely painful. I couldn't have been more wrong. It was quick, so much easier, and almost pain free. My eyes don't water and my skin only stays red for a short time afterwards. (The first time it was done as I'd never had it done before I thought she'd done some sort of pre wax thing and the actual wax was still to come, then she said it was all done, I couldn't believe how quick it was).
I know most people say avoid wax if you have sensitive skin, but for me it's the opposite. I'd never go back, I wish I'd tried waxing sooner instead of having years of painful threading.

roxfox · 25/07/2020 21:54

Waxed and then threaded. That's what my lady does anyway. Gosh I miss her.

TomNook · 25/07/2020 21:55

Waxing . Skin smoother

Squidgyflump · 25/07/2020 22:49

I prefer waxing.

I find that threading stings and for some reason, i always end up with a queasy tummy

Honeyroar · 25/07/2020 22:54

Threading for me.

Ticklemelmo · 25/07/2020 23:03

Both painful but I find threading to be an irritating pain. Hate it. I'd rather do it myself with tweezers than get them threaded.
