My friend has always loved a good conspiracy theory as have I but for me the fictitious and far fetched claims. She is now in the US, I am not.
The latest and most worrying is that she believes that Trump is going to save us all and is exposing a satanist cult of the wealthy and elite in America. This includes Katy Perry, Marina Abramovic and others! Apparently they hold canabalistic dinner parties and hunt humans on a ranch and Trump is exposing them all. I think she has lost the plot, its not just her, loads of her friends including my cousin are at it too bonkers!

That's the craziest one I've heard. The scary thing is that people who believe this rubbish are allowed to vote.

speakout · 25/07/2020 06:53

My family believe in the power of human death sacrifice and have rituals where they pretend to eat human flesh and drink human blood.

No less whacky.

TheClaws · 25/07/2020 06:56

Why have you posted this again?

BillywilliamV · 25/07/2020 06:57

Speakeasy:

Clever! how many times do you get to trot that one out?

Quaversplease · 25/07/2020 06:58

Is this the Qanon theory? Loads of (unhinged) people believe it.

speakout · 25/07/2020 06:58

BillywillyV first time I have made that point.

Greyblueeyes · 25/07/2020 07:05

Oh good heavens. That is absolutely insane. Unfortunately, Trump supporters are incredibly active and push their insane conspiracy theories on S/M and other outlets (Fox News, anyone?). I'm American and these crazy theories spread like wildfire here. Trump has encouraged this behavior. it just doesn't shock me anymore.

I promise, all Americans aren't batshit crazy. I despise Trump, and am doing everything in my power to defeat him in November.

TheClaws · 25/07/2020 07:05

CassChops: Apologise - that was another, almost identical, thread.

My advice would be to not engage her in this type of talk.

Mycatsmellsbad · 25/07/2020 07:09

Another conspiracy theory thread. I’m starting to wonder if these are being started by actually conspiracy theorists in order to spread their ‘word’.

longwayoff · 25/07/2020 07:09

Yes, she's gone crackers. Barking🐕

doskant · 25/07/2020 07:21

Ooer. It's hard to know what to say, isn't it, OP. In my experience it's unlikely you can get a word in anyway because they're usually monologues.

A friend of mine recently decided to go anti-vax and I was treated to a long monologue on how negligent parents who immunise their kids are. Ie. such as me! And her actually, given her first kid is immunised. But hey ho.

Should have changed the subject but made the mistake of challenging it so was bombarded with a flurry of screen shots of (fake) medical studies someone had posted on Facebook. My friend is very smart. She will have had to have learned how to research properly during her studies and career. Yet she took these posts at face value as evidence for her theory. Very strange.

Casschops · 25/07/2020 07:28

@TheClaws I have never posted about this before.

Casschops · 25/07/2020 07:29

@TheClaws my apologies to you too. I cross posted.Grin

SpeckledFrogsLog · 25/07/2020 07:39

I would point out to her that if there is a satanist cult of the wealthy in the US, Trump is probably their leader Grin

Chocoholic12 · 25/07/2020 07:54

😳😳 crazy. Can they make a documentary about this I'd watch it 😂

Chocoholic12 · 25/07/2020 07:57

@speakout 😂😂 hope you are humouring us

speakout · 25/07/2020 08:00

Chocoholic12 not at all= my mother and sister do this ceremony on a weekly basis.

LunaNorth · 25/07/2020 08:00

Katy Perry’s a cannibal?

Maybe she bit a girl and she liked it...

Casschops · 25/07/2020 08:01

@Mycatsmellsbad, Im more of theory debunker.

IDontLikeZombies · 25/07/2020 08:11

I also love conspiracy theories but this Q Anon blood drinking nonsense is very scary. No so much the story itself but that normal seeming folk are buying it wholesale. Its frankly ludicrous but for some reason its sticking in the American conciousness and influencing a highly armed population into violence and madness.
I recently heard a political analyst from the USA. She isn't confident that if and when Donald loses the election he will step down. In her opinion these conspiracies are paving the way for that. Very, very nasty stuff.

Findwen · 25/07/2020 08:12

"satanist cult of the wealthy and elite in America. This includes Katy Perry.."

I kissed a Satan and I liked it ?

IDontLikeZombies · 25/07/2020 08:13

Luna taste of her cherry chapstick, right enough 😂

ShebaShimmyShake · 25/07/2020 08:15

Katy Perry does that? Still not as horrendous as her music.

itsgettingweird · 25/07/2020 08:16

My teen ds announced the other day that Trump supporters seem to be becoming as insane as he is.

Maybe he was right!

It's actually scary just how far some people will go with irrational conspiracies but even more concerning that they cannot see how extreme their views and beliefs are and shouted louder over anyone trying to rationalise their thoughts.

But it's not just America. Look what happened here with 5G masts at the start of the covid pandemic.
