AIBU neighbours?

So I've been staying at my partners house for the past 2 months he doesn't have a very good relationship with his neighbour, not even polite 'hello' terms. Anyway I've been parking on his drive and keep getting punctures in my tyres. The first one was established when my car went in for a service 6 weeks ago, tyre was replaced. I then found a screw at the edge of the drop kerb about a week ago so obviously picked up and got rid of it. Then today popped out and on way back tyre pressure warning light came on, checked back home and again another screw in tyre. Both screws have been in same tyre.

AIBU to think said neighbour 'might' be planting the screws for me to drive over? They do walk past the house more than daily to check on another neighbour. I am also still furloughed so not going out in my car very much at all. I know it's hard to prove but 2 punctures and a screw found in such a short space of time, more than just a coincidence, no?!

Didn't want to read and run.. I'd definitely find this suspicious .. isn't there any cameras on the driveway? Until you have proof sadly you can't point the finger or relations with the neighbours will probably get worse .. hope you get this solved there's nothing more frustrating

Think it's a bit paranoid to think this straight away. This happened to me but my DH said it's because I drive in the gutter 😆

BeeFarseer · 24/07/2020 21:28

That's quite a reach, unless 'doesn't have a good relationship with his neighbour' means they've attempted to murder each other.

Install something like ring floodlight cameras. They will be high enough to catch motion in front of the driveway.

Can you get some outside cctv?
This happened to my step dad when his awful neighbours picked a fight over parking and then stepdad kept getting nails in his tyres until he installed cctv caught the guy red handed and turned it into the police as evidence.

TheNestedIf · 24/07/2020 21:41

You could invest in one of these or similar. It's cheaper than yet another tyre.

If it is him, either use the bracket, make it visible and put him off or attach it somewhere invisible and catch him at it.

OneAwesomeMum · 24/07/2020 21:42

@Russell19 i would love for it to be a coincidence, but I don't think my suspicions are unjust. The neighbour doesn't get on with the other side of them either and police have been involved in the past so it's not just him.

@Firewall he does have ring. He's extended the reach/ perimeter to see what happens.

Hopefully it is all coincidence!

That sounds like a coincidence.
Dh cycles to work and he rarely gets punctures but he had a month last year when he got 9. He's probably had less than two dozen in the other 20 years he's cycled.

cuntryclub · 24/07/2020 21:52

he doesn't have a very good relationship with his neighbour, not even polite 'hello' terms.

What does this mean? They don't speak or they have a huge history of arguments? Does he have a car? Why would they target you?

2 punctures in a short space of time is bad luck usually. That's all. Without any real context re their relationship it's hard to say it's deliberate.

Stuckforlong · 24/07/2020 21:59

I'd consider CCTV or floodlights or a camera in your car. I've had this happen to me I was even talking to a neighbour and we found the evidence , since I've had the camera in my park(parking camera that can also be programmed to stay on overnight) nothing. It's a horrible thing for people to do, good luck

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 24/07/2020 22:21

Front and rear dashcam will tell you if he's doing something, that and CCTV over the drive and house front.
