Crisps and dips - AIBU to think you dip then eat whole crisp, not take a bite and then dip again with same crisp?

As above - AIBU to think etiquette is or should be to take a crisp, dip into dip and then eat the whole crisp, rather than taking a bite of crisp and then dipping the same crisp in shared dip?

So true! Its so gross to double dip any food unless you have taken some dip in your own plate. Actually, I eat very limited number of Doritos and so, prefer not to single dip too. Also, being vegan helps (some people do not do such gross stuff, kidding!) But, I recently read many Doritos chips have pork (vegansfirst.com/does-doritos-contain-pork/) and avoid those too (Just trying to share my knowledge)

I mean if you’re eating finger food, one crisp per dip or double dipping, fingers are still going in mouth back into the bag, back into the dip so it’s hardly the most sanitary of food. I wonder how many people thoroughly clean their hands before dipping into the communal bag of crisps. Especially at home, change channel on the remote (that never gets cleaned) and go back at the crisps. I really don’t care about stuff like this though,l, especially if I was in an informal setting with friends or family. At a party I’d scoop my own dip onto a plate anyway.

if someone is a double di[per thats what ramikins were designed for you put the dips in ramikins and let them dip to their hearts content

That's just foul.
Double dipping from communal dishes is revolting.
If it's an individual portion, crack on, but not if it has to be shared.

When it comes to a large, ie Kettle crisp, I tend to dip, eat, then rotate the crisp before dipping the non been in mouth end. Is that a faux pas too? Shiiiiit. I hadn't realised.

Thanks Mumsnet

Shizzlestix · 03/09/2020 22:20

I’d puke if someone double dipped. Horrific.
