Missing period, stressing out- 8 months post pill

Hello,

Stressing myself out again over a missing period.

I stopped taking the pill in Nov (after 10 years), it took ages for my period 50+ days and then when it came back it was much lighter then prior to the pill (about 1 day of red blood and then brown for 4 days)

Since then it has been coming around every 32-34 days still very light.

However this month it is currently 43 days and nothing!

I did a test a couple of days ago and it was negative. we are not TTC yet but being less careful as hopefully will be soon!

I'm 28 and stressing it it early menopause or something!

Anyone had anything similar?

I have very irregular periods - anything for 10 days to six-months apart. The pill just hid that. When TTC I had to take tests fairly regularly because I just had no idea what was going on with my body.

If you're not on contraception and 'being less careful' then you're effectively TTC. I'd suggest retaking pregnancy tests on a regular basis unless you start being rock solid on contraception again.

@DuggeeHugs

Thanks for the reply,

Have you been diagnosed with PCOS or anything that gives a reason for the irregular cycles?

It is annoying because before the pill I was so regular and it seemed to be going back that way. I have been tracking my cycle only having unprotected sex on certain days, we want to have children and wanted to give my body some time to regulate after the pill!

Yes, I was told PCOS but by that point I was so used to it I've never really thought about it.

If your cycle isn't regular then I don't think you can count on certain days being ok, so I'd definitely keep up with testing, perhaps weekly?

I was shocked when a test finally came back positive. I had pretty much given up on expecting one, it was more that I hadn't done a test for months and thought I ought to (we were TTC but were at the fertility clinic stage so awaiting intervention and not anticipating anything happening without help).

@DuggeeHugs thats so great that it happened for you in the end naturally in the end! And reassuring.

Maybe I should invest in some cheaper tests then!

Really wish I hadn't take the pill for so long now!

i'd be speaking to the gp for advise if i was you, as every case is different.
hope it all works out well for you.

I would check for PCOS and get your thyroid tested x

Thank you @romeolovedjulliet @DrManhattan

I will speak to a doctor but as it is only around 10 days late atm I think they will tell me to wait, I have heard most doctors / NHS website says to wait for 3 missed periods.
