Whyyyyy, spagbol has less letters to type... plus spagbowl makes it sounds like a bowl of spaghetti (I read to make sure, they definitely meant spaghetti bolognese!) Honestly I don’t normally police peoples spelling or care about them but it just looks so... annoying.

Yanbu! I've seen this and it makes me cringe!

LockdownMayhem · 24/07/2020 07:57

CherryPavlova · 24/07/2020 07:57

Betty scolonaise in our house.

Destroyedpeople · 24/07/2020 07:58

Not as annoying as people saying 'less' when they mean 'fewer'.....Smile

No I think it's funny. I might start calling it that.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 24/07/2020 07:58

Please don't. My nonna is spinning in her grave especially as it isn't even a real dish ! Its spaghetti and ragu !

pointythings · 24/07/2020 08:00

That word is an abomination.

oopsiedaisy2 · 24/07/2020 08:02

Bisgeti boloneese here 😂

Destroyedpeople · 24/07/2020 08:02

Well exactly 'spag bol' didn't exist in the first place....

ronswansonstache · 24/07/2020 08:04

Bollocknaise, obviously

Fluffytheevil1 · 24/07/2020 08:14

Stickbetty bolicknaise in this house 🤨

Gogogadgetarms · 24/07/2020 08:31

I thought it was spagbol so short for spaghetti bolognese.
Where did the bowl come from?

SchrodingersImmigrant · 24/07/2020 08:33

Spagbowel was even betterGrin

BabyofMine · 24/07/2020 08:34

@Destroyedpeople

I’m not gonna lie, my grammar and spelling are so retry horrendous, but I think I’ve realised what annoys me about it - I don’t think it’s a spelling mistake! The person I saw using it always changes words to make them cutesy/funny. I don’t know why this annoys me, I am aware it’s my problem, not theirs!!!

MinnieMousse · 24/07/2020 08:35

I know someone who has put this on FB. I think she genuinely thinks that's how it is spelled as her spelling is pretty terrible on most posts.

CaptainMyCaptain · 24/07/2020 08:35

Presumably because you can eat it in a bowl.

Dave Gorman has a programme on Dave (the channel) called Modern Life is Goodish where he bases whole programmes on misconceptions like this by following random tweets etc. One was based on the mutation of 'Like a bull in a china shop' (chaotic) to 'Like a bowl in a china shop' (exactly what you'd expect to find).

BabyofMine · 24/07/2020 08:36

Omg I don’t even know what I typed there ^ I meant to write “totally horrendous” - kind of proves my point!!

Destroyedpeople · 24/07/2020 08:49

Tbh it IS quite annoying if they are trying to be 'cutesey'...
It's kind if funny in its awfulness though you must admit...

Fedup21 · 24/07/2020 08:51

I’ve never seen that written before!

Mmsnet101 · 24/07/2020 08:56

It's awful but draws instead of drawers is worse

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 24/07/2020 08:56

@Dontforgetyourbrolly your Nonna would hopefully be ok with our offerings. My DM’s friends recipe. Meat based sauce not a tomato in sight.

bambinaballerina · 24/07/2020 08:59

Taglietelle al ragù OP Grin

bambinaballerina · 24/07/2020 09:00

Tagliatelle*

strawberrymilkshakemonkey · 24/07/2020 09:00

funnily enough the italians would NEVER have spaghetti with a ragu. they'd most likely have tagliatelle, so however you say it, it's not really a proper dish! but yanbu, spagbowl is v annoying.

Pobblebonk · 24/07/2020 09:10

See also tow the line.

ChangeThePassword · 24/07/2020 09:11

Of course spaghetti bolognese is a 'real dish'.

Admittedly it is not a traditional Italian recipe, but it exists, it's real and is eaten in many places.

New recipes are developed all the time, from inspiration all over the world. Are none of those dishes real either? Believe it or not, there was a time when ragu didn't exist either.
