Whyyyyy, spagbol has less letters to type... plus spagbowl makes it sounds like a bowl of spaghetti (I read to make sure, they definitely meant spaghetti bolognese!) Honestly I don’t normally police peoples spelling or care about them but it just looks so... annoying.

HarlinRay · 24/07/2020 09:12

I thought it was spagbol so short for spaghetti bolognese.
Where did the bowl come from?

It comes from illiteracy. Same place as "chester draws'"and "loose" when "lose" is correct.

Fedup21 · 24/07/2020 09:13

@Pobblebonk

See also tow the line.
And doing something ‘off your own back’!
Destroyedpeople · 24/07/2020 09:14

'Loose' for 'lose' I can understand though.
To go with 'choose'....

PixellatedPixie · 24/07/2020 09:16

This reminds me of people I knew growing up who called Alzheimer’s, “old timer’s”. It is misheard but makes sense in a way! 🤪

AudacityOfHope · 24/07/2020 09:19

Oh god, people who have their own 'cute' name for spaghetti bolognese. Are you the same people who call holidays 'holibags' by any chance? Envy

squeekums · 24/07/2020 09:20

@LockdownMayhem

We always call it spagbog Confused
This So OP, your both wrong Grin

My nonna is spinning in her grave especially as it isn't even a real dish ! Its spaghetti and ragu
Don't worry, what we call spagbog wouldn't stack up to any nonnas ragu, she will appeciate the difference lol

RufustheRowlingReindeer · 24/07/2020 09:22

We have a menu board which i make the 18 and 17 year old fill in

They put spag bowl on it, it was a mishearing though 😀

Dd tried to argue that it made more sense their way

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 24/07/2020 09:25

I saw a new variation on 'chester draws' the other day.
Chested Drawers.

honeygirlz · 24/07/2020 09:26

I saw someone say they were feeling ‘wrestles’ , which I thought was funny!

honeygirlz · 24/07/2020 09:26

*wrestless

formerlyAlibra · 24/07/2020 09:34

It's known as Spaghetti bollock naked here...🤦‍♀️

HarlinRay · 24/07/2020 09:36

I follow a minor fashion model/professional drama queen on Instagram (mostly for the LOLS but also for the clothes, food, and scenery -she lives in Japan) and she posted a long screed about the 'obstickles' in her life the other day.

HarlinRay · 24/07/2020 09:38

Sorry I should add so I don't sound like a dick - she isn't Japanese, English is her first language.

RiftGibbon · 24/07/2020 09:38

Good grammar and proper spelling seem to be very much on the wane.

LizzieAnt · 24/07/2020 09:41

@CherryPavlova
Love Betty Scolonaise Grin

20viona · 24/07/2020 09:43

I DETEST when people say this! So glad other people feel the same!!

Zaphodsotherhead · 24/07/2020 10:06

NEVER go on Facebook Local Pages if you are easily offended by grammar/spelling being tortured.

On the two Local pages I frequent, you'd swear neither town had ever had a secondary school and everyone was ripped from education aged about seven to be sent down the treacle mines.

CandidaAlbicans2 · 24/07/2020 15:21

Betty scolonaise in our house

Or Betty's Colon-aise Grin

yelyah22 · 24/07/2020 15:40

Basketti bollocknese here (sorry!). To be fair if they were saying it to be funny, it wouldn't bother me, but if they just thought it was actually shorterned to 'spag bowl' it would annoy me - which is probably quite mean of me.

Singlebutmarried · 24/07/2020 15:44

Sketty bollocks here

ATaleOfTwoCovids · 24/07/2020 15:49

I think some people think it’s soagbowl as in bowl of spaghetti bolognese. Spagbol is pretty bad itself. Hell, even serving spaghetti wit bolognese is wrong apparently so I’m not sure why this bothers you.

MikeUniformMike · 24/07/2020 15:55

Whyyyyy, - YABU, Why the yyyyy?
less letters - YABU it's "fewer letters"
Honestly I don't - Honestly, I don't.
peoples spelling - people's spelling

so... annoying

HarlinRay · 24/07/2020 16:07

I remember my mother, who left school at 14 and who probably had undiagnosed dyslexia, sitting with a dictionary and labouring over every word when she had to write a note to my school or a card to a friend because she cared so much about how she was perceived and respected herself and the people who would read what she wrote. Today people can't even be bothered to acknowledge spellcheck when it highlights a word - they just barrel on through, proud of whatever ignorant nonsense they manage to shit out.

HarlinRay · 24/07/2020 16:09

@MikeUniformMike savage! I love it.

MikeUniformMike · 24/07/2020 16:12

@HarlinRay, it was in jest.
OP is pretty literate by normal MN standards.
