To mix different Dylon machine colours together?

Will it work?

I want a dark raspberry pink, or laugh pinkish red. I have some noxes of the claret red, but that will be too dark. I will need to use multiple pods anyway as it’s for sofa covers (heavy load), so I was wondering if I could use a mix of claret red and flamingo pink. Will it mix evenly together?

The cotton fabric will dye but the thread (stitching) usually doesn’t (polyester/nylon).
Agree that it will be patchy unless you dye each cover separately.

Would be best to pre wash the fabric to remove any marks or fabric treatments like stain block. Starting with wet fabric also helps to get even dye colour. And yes as others have said mixing pods works very well, but you may get contrasting stitching

Surely the cost of the dye needed will be as much as buying new covers? I wanted to dye a teeshirt but couldnt find a dye for the machine under 8 quid which is about the cost ofa new top 😁

I think most of the stitching is either near the zip, so hidden from normal view, or hidden down next to piping, but I will check later.

Ideally you'd want to weigh the fabric and the dye so you can work out the ratio if you're doing multiple washes and want the colours to be consistent.

I dyed a soft chair cover ikea purple and the sticking didn't dye. I used two different colours ( dark purple and red) in one load, so I think you will need 3-4 per load for a sofa. Worked ok loved the colour. Made bright purple.

Just thinking that 4 loads with at one or two dye pods per load will add up to quite a bit cost wise? Do they sell replacement covers? Especially if you’re unsure of the finished result.

I may or may not have ordered dye today to colour my white Ektorp covers mustard yellow.....

Got carried away with posting there. OP, I found detailed instructions online for mixing and quantities and so on and so forth. I'm going to use Rit dye because it was considerably cheaper, but there are Dylon instructions available too. You can take out a lot of the guesswork and dramatically improve your chances of getting the result you want.

I think I’ll put it off until next weekend to give me more time to read and calculate.

Thanks for all the input. I will feedback for the others considering it.
