I popped into M&S this morning (large, 3 floor store) to buy some stockings - I have a new man and he loves them so I wanted to stock up - only to find they don't sell them anymore?! The lady said they only sell them online (even then there was only 1 style, 3 different colours).

They had a billion different sorts of tights to cover every eventuality but stockings apparently aren't a thing anymore, she said no-one likes them anymore ... AIBU to suggest stockings are nicer than tights in this weather and also lots of men still like them?!

it's neither here nor there to me if men like them - but i find them more comfortable.

myBumJuiceSmellsLikeRoses · 23/07/2020 14:06

There are still many places that sell them, even Sainsbury & Tesco.

OnTheFencePaint · 23/07/2020 14:36

That’s really surprising that they’ve stopped doing them.
I started wearing stockings instead of tights last winter as I like not having a tight waistband, but then I had one day at work where one of them kept falling down. It was so awkward hobbling around the office gripping my thigh. I had some moments of just standing still in an open space/shop, wondering how I was going to make it to a safe spot before it ended up at my feet. Never again!

I'm fairly confident that m&s will know more about their own demand and supply than you will.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 23/07/2020 14:43

Awful things, I hate stockings with a passion. Not surprised that M&S don't sell them, they should be banished from society.

SerenDippitty · 23/07/2020 14:44

I used to wear them, the suspender ones because I found them comfy and cool but it's impossible to get hold of them any more you can only get hold ups which I hate.

BarbedBloom · 23/07/2020 14:46

I don't mind them but since I switched to snag tights I just wear them. I imagine there just aren't as many people wanting them now.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 23/07/2020 14:46

Try Anne Summers-their underwear is actually ok-not all toys and pvc!🤣

This the trouble with hold ups. Just about doable if you are nipping from a car into a restaurant but useless if you have to do any walking about at all.
vikingwife · 23/07/2020 14:47

70 Denier or die for me. I can’t stand a sheer stocking. I worked in an adult store & we sold a range of stockings ! I would try an upmarket adult store if you’re looking for stockings to get your man going.
If it’s sticking for comfort you will be able to surely find them in a larger department store like selfridges etc

AntennaReborn · 23/07/2020 14:50

I am aware my opinion may not be representative of the rest of the population, but stockings are bloody awful.

The "stay up" type are either too loose and keep falling down, or too tight and I end up with a thigh muffin top and red marks where it the silicone bands restricted my blood flow.

The traditional ones to wear with suspenders are a faff to put on and come undone unexpectedly.

They also don't keep your bum warm...

I love tights. I buy comfy ones (Heist, Wolford etc) which last me forever, don't dig in, and keep my bits warm

AntennaReborn · 23/07/2020 14:55

I should also add, I often wear shorts and mini skirts, so stockings would be a no go.

Even with longer hem lines, I am tall and stockings don't seem to come up high enough on my thighs that they would not poke out when I walk or sit down.

SerenDippitty · 23/07/2020 14:59

Even just above the knee skirts can be a bit revealing if there's a deep slit at the back of the skirt.

dancemom · 23/07/2020 15:00

Primark sell them

Littlebeachhut · 23/07/2020 15:03

www.agentprovocateur.com/mercurie-hold-ups-264 These are the best hold ups I’ve ever had and now half price at £15
