To sit in the car (on driveway) while kids are in bed?

So, I stupidly left the light on in my car and let it get flat. BIL has come around and jumped it but he said to leave it running for 30min to charge up the battery.

So right now I’m sitting out in the car with the engine running, sort of down the side of the house. Car door and house door are both open but I’m not sure I would hear kids shouting over the noise of the engine. I’m popping back to the house every 5 min or so. AIBU to do this? Anything else I can do? Obviously I can’t leave the car on the driveway with engine running!

I think that's fine, not like you're driving off for an hour or 2.

If they're really young could they not sit in the car with you?

Erm, I’d have left it running on the driveway 😬 but, admittedly, we live in a very low crime area.

But I don’t see any issues with how you’ve done it either.
