Russia report pretty damning- UK government did nothing to investigate Russian interference in elections and referendums - this is treason really

Dominic Cummings chaired a cabinet meeting yesterday- unelected yet seemingly running the country- a lot of them stand to make billions from Brexit

MP’s voted to essentially include the NHS in trade talks- it will be hollowed out and sold off

Aibu to think we are in big trouble as a country- we have handed it over on a plate to disaster capitalists to sell off. A no deal brexit is going to be a disaster on top of Covid.

Millions of pounds of public money has been given without due diligence to companies of friends of Gove and Cummings- there is legal action happening at the moment over it

Aibu to be really worried & angry about what’s happening & think everyone has been utterly duped.

.. plenty of warnings given but many refused to listen and still refuse to see the pretty bloody obvious staring them in the face!

Treason is a bit strong. And a chairperson is just there to ensure that the meeting is run correctly.

The country is going to shit, that's obvious, it's been a steady decline over many years. Think of the damage the Blair years did, he systematically took a wrecking ball to the country. It's no surprise that politicians of any ilk continue to cause harm.

We are in a climate where it is deemed appropriate and necessary to rip down statues and throw away the past, to dismiss and "cancel" anything that doesn't - or didn't at some previous time - comply with our present woke values. So why should the NHS or any other institution be different? It's from a different era, ripe for tearing down.

RHTawneyonabus · 22/07/2020 10:05

Well yes, but this was all said for many months and the public still voted for them in large numbers and delivered them a crushing majority to do it. For some bizarre reason it’s what people want.

dayslikethese1 · 22/07/2020 10:05

Yep

Everythingnotsaved · 22/07/2020 10:06

@contrmary given that we have spent months clapping for the NHS, it’s amazing to me that anyone thinks it’s ok to sell it off

dayslikethese1 · 22/07/2020 10:07

as RHT this seems to be what people want, strangely.

dayslikethese1 · 22/07/2020 10:07

as RHT* say

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 22/07/2020 10:08

It's so depressing. I'm starting to seriously think about trying to persuade DH we should emigrate. I don't want to be here anymore.

dayslikethese1 · 22/07/2020 10:09

everything yes the demonisation of the NHS started pretty soon after the clapping stopped. I think it's all part of a ploy; they're running it down ready to see it off asap.

dayslikethese1 · 22/07/2020 10:12

*sell (sorry why can't I type today?)

Yaottie · 22/07/2020 10:15

I don't think you've got a proper grasp on what's going on that's for sure.

There was no vote to sell the NHS off. The amendment was voted down because it has nothing to do with the Trade bill. Maybe start questioning the things you read online

The80sweregreat · 22/07/2020 10:15

The sad thing is if there was an election next week people would still vote Conservative as they seem to think they are ok and know what they are doing!

CopperBeeches · 22/07/2020 10:31

Blaming everyone but yourself is exacty why it is happening.

"They" voted for Brexit, The Tories, Tony Blair etc etc. Not Me. And while this continues there will be no improvement.

Do you buy from Amazon? Do you rush off to A&E every time you are a bit concerned to "get it checked out"? Do you endlessly complain to teachers and doctors because you felt that in some way you were slighted? Do you ever get paid cash in hand?, or pay someone cash for a discount? Do you always book the cheapest flights? Do you shop at cheapo supermarkets rather than ones that treat their staff with respect and fairness? Do you buy fast fashion knowing that there is no way that anyone can sell a dress for a fiver and pay all the workers down the line fairly.

And when a British firm shuts down because it simply isn't making enough money, what do you say? Surprisingly many say "Serves them right, they were crap/too expensive etc"

It isn't just virtue signalling about who you voted for as if any of the parties are blameless it is about every decision you make about how you live your life. And most of us are doing it every day.

Everythingnotsaved · 22/07/2020 11:56

It’s not virtue signalling, it’s concern for our democracy to be honest!

I don't see how people saying that it no longer ok to put slave traders on a pedestal is the same thing as selling of the NHS. In fact I think the demographic who disagree with slave trader statues but probably think that a public health system is a good idea.

CopperBeeches · 23/07/2020 15:16

You can be concerned for our democracy - I am too - but what I was referring to was the "Oh it isn't my fault, I am not a XXXX" . That's what I mean.
