Just curious.
I don't tend to at all.
Probably once or twice following someone else referencing a previous thread.
I name change quite often.

What's reverse search? You mean like advanced search? Or something different?
clueless

Thurmanmurman

Because sometimes its interesting to find out that some of the more vocal posters that are pushing 'their views' quire aggressively, or pushing the boundaries of being banned have only been posting under that name for a couple of days.

Then the poster stops using that name and moves on.

LynetteScavo · 23/07/2020 08:48

I used to when MN was smaller but now I don't even look at posting names and presume everything is made up anyway.

I once, long ago,put into google details mentioned by a prolific poster and managed to find out exactly who she is.

BubblyBarbara · 23/07/2020 08:51

I google most people I encounter to be fair, not just here but in real life too it’s amazing what you can find out. You can actually find real dirt on some people and this can be useful if you need to get the upper hand sometime

I've done it on a couple of occasions either when I think someone is lying or I might know them. Once someone who was making out they worked in a and e, and said they were working all hours etc through covid, and when I looked, they were still at college and just had a newborn.

Are you sure that newborn was real? There were some "I am a student and preggers" which were in reality begging threads. Like a poster who wrote exactly same story, with exactly same title, with exactly same writing style, with exactly same... Everything. But when someone pointed it out they denied it. I think MN let it stand for much longer than it should have...

It's internet. It's full of lies.

saraclara · 23/07/2020 09:13

Never. I'm not that invested and tend to think of those who do as a bit sneaky.

I'm a total hypocrite though, because occasionally one of the searchers will out sometime who's already annoying me, as a liar. And then I enjoy the ' ah ha!' moment

NotShiny · 23/07/2020 13:35

It's also helpful to check sometimes, if someones responses seem a bit off, it might be that theyve got some sort of mental illness which they may have talked about on a previous post.

KarlKennedyisaterriblehusband · 24/07/2020 09:53

I change my user name every few weeks now. Not becUse im trolling, but so people can’t piece together my entire life and identify me.
