"Boot camps for obese kids"

"Obese" children sent to weight loss "boot camp", interviews with mothers of the children, never a father to be seen, mothers of the "obese" children all overweight! The kids have learnt their eating habits from somewhere! If you only offer junk in your home how are the children going to learn?

I was on youtube and looking for something totally different. I landed on this report and watched it I never once mentioned "single mothers". Yes, I did say that there were no interviews with the fathers of the children, but I certainly did not mean to say that there were no fathers there. Or that that the mothers were all single. All I said was, that if a child is fed on junk food , the child will not learn how to eat healthily.Perhaps all the fathers are overweight too and just didn't want to show themselves in the interviews.

Do you want a medal for these incisive statements, OP?

And maybe the mothers have realised they don't have the knowledge or skills to help their kids and so have opted to send them somewhere that might help the child to understand about healthy lifestyles. Maybe the child will then come back to the family home and help the mum out with their new knowledge, it isn't always a case of "Mother knows best!".... Take off your judgypants and stop looking down at someone who might have also been brought up with an unhealthy lifestyle and just not know how to help their kids and are now trying to do their best by sending them to these camps!

If only you were Prime Minister, OP.

There are a hell of a lot of obese kids around atm. Not sure if lockdown has contributed but it’s very noticeable when out and about

Parents usually overweight too, mums and dads. Went to a country park last week and a girl around 8/9 was trying to climb a big stone climbing frame/stepping stone thing. She couldn’t get half way up. There were 3 and 4 year olds scrambling all over it. I just felt overwhelmingly sad for her.
