Masks are giving people a false sense of security?

In Scotland masks are now to be worn in shops etc. It seems to me that this has 1) caused social distancing to almost disappear over night
2) causes people to stand and lean closer to one another to be heard
3) people are constantly touching masks, many have them slung under their noses
4) a pretty large proportion aren’t wearing them at all, usually within same group/family. ( appreciate some can’t wear them)
5) some of the masks look filthy
6) no one is policing the situation and police rightly don’t have time or resources.

The masks only work if they are clean, not fiddled with and social distancing is applied.

IABU to think that most people believe masks make them completely immune to Covid and therefore they have dropped their guard in the main?

I don't know.

Wear your mask and be safe. Look after you and your own, worrying about others will drive you round the bend.

I personally don't see the point at this point in the situation. Perhaps March/April but not now. In fact most of the time those in authority said masks where pointless if not worn by medical staff who knew how to use them properly.
It's actually the case that those who I have had to ask not to enter my personal space who pay scant regard to Social Distancing are always those in masks. They think they make them immune.
Also, why just shops and public transport? Does it only linger there and not in restaurants or pubs or cinemas?
Pointless and only done so the government finally appears to be doing something allbeit far far later than they should have and not fooling anyone.
And don't even get me started on the second round of shop Stasi who already got off on patrolling doors and changing rules every time you went shopping. That lot will be happy as Larry to have this bollocks to lecture people on.
