Anyone else follow Totes Inappropes on Facebook? I've just read her latest post and I'm shocked. I thought she was all about women wearing what the hell they want but that post is nasty, snobbish, un-feminist and victim blaming. Her supporters claim we're 'reading it wrong'??

Not sure if I can post a link to a Facebook page on here but it's easily found

@LoafingLiz what is wrong with that pic of the 12 yo?! She's covering her bits, no provocative pose, no heels. Is it the fact she's wearing a bikini?! ( The fact her mum parades her kids for clicks is, in my view, a different argument)

Llamazoom · 20/07/2020 21:44

I agree with everything she’s said, the young women of today are going to need a lot of therapy by the time they are 40, I feel sorry for them.

LimitIsUp · 20/07/2020 21:45

I agree with her

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 20/07/2020 21:46

Never heard of her, but I'm with you from what I've just read on that post - YANBU, that's pretty crap.
Why can't women just wear what the hell they want?
OK, she feels too old/middle aged whatever, doesn't mean she should be shaming others for their "big tits, big arse, hair extensions and long false nails"
Sounds like she;s trying to be funny but instead had a rant in the form of feminism and instead come across as a judgy dick.

betteliefsen · 20/07/2020 21:47

Tell us if you want our opinions otherwise it's just click bait.

MirandaGoshawk · 20/07/2020 21:48

"Female wrappers"! and the name right if you're going to mention a singer.

BitOfFun · 20/07/2020 21:49

It sounds like your average ranty blog to me- nothing I'd drag over to another forum tbh.

Nonotthisagain · 20/07/2020 21:52

I posted to see others opinions as I did wonder if I was reading it wrong and I thought there would be people on here who follow her

I think if a person is going to write a blog, they ought to take the time to get the names right of people they reference.
That said, I don't think it's good for women to think they have to dress like strippers in order to be valued. And cheap, mass produced tat exploits the workers who make it and the people who buy it.
Women should wear what they like, but who really likes this stuff? Women are being told they have to present a certain way in order to be attractive and it's not right to tell this to young women.

1Morewineplease · 20/07/2020 21:52

Just unfollow her if you don’t like what she says.

Griefmonster · 20/07/2020 21:52

And it's worse now I've looked at her Instagram. Which is a constant stream of "I need my roots done"/ outfits/ legs out/ Botox/jowls..

Gives the impression of a woman who is ENTIRELY defined by her sense of style and clothes choice and appearance (which despite what she may think is not nearly as quirky or out there as she may imagine it is). None if this is to take away from her efforts and her style (I actually think she looks amazing and love her look). But trashing other women for spending a lot of time and effort on their own "look" (which she doesn't like) is a low move.

Call it as you see it. It's not to her taste, fine. Bit it exposes her as judgemental when that's not part of her "look". So pretend it's something deeper. To cover for her gut feeling of "I don't like that look".

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 20/07/2020 21:53

Needs to proofread her rants to avoid ‘wrappers’ instead of ‘rappers

Ha, I noticed that Grin

It is victim blaming in parts. It’s very judgy in all of it but the last bit that says it’s clothing which might give unwanted attention and men think you are up for more doesn’t sit well with me! It’s clothing, it doesn’t signify if you are ‘up for anything’ or not
Exactly!

Catlover77 · 20/07/2020 21:55

I agree with her

BumbleBeee69 · 20/07/2020 21:55

hahahaaaa she looks kinda entertaining though Grin

Griefmonster · 20/07/2020 21:58

Exploitation of workforce in fashion does not start and end with cheap tat from PYT or whatever. And the exploitation of women's insecurities by selling them "new season colours" "new sole thickness" "new fugly sandals" is just as much part of the patriarchy and capitalist bull shit as ""contouring!" "straight hair" "big bum".

You are deluded if you think any differently.

Owleyes16 · 20/07/2020 22:02

She seems like an incredibly judgemental, condescending, and hypocritical woman. Apparently the "tits and arse look" is "horrifying". Ok then. I'll just remove my body parts shall I?

There absolutely are valid criticisms to be made about the particular style and advertising she's talking about. She didn't raise any (from what I read, I didn't read all of it tbf because it was annoying and I got the gist.)

Let people dress and be how they want. That's all. No qualifiers.

overnightangel · 20/07/2020 22:03

Is this someone people follow?
She sounds genuinely dim
“Wrapper”
“Mary Waterhouse” 😂

Busymum45 · 20/07/2020 22:03

Why would you follow someone like this ?!

overnightangel · 20/07/2020 22:03

I get the impression she fancies herself as a writer ... she shouldn’t , she’s terrible

NellePorter · 20/07/2020 22:10

I used to find her posts entertaining but I stopped following her a while ago, I can't remember what it was that annoyed me, but a similar post to this.

Smellbellina · 20/07/2020 22:13

Do you object to her opinion or her sharing her opinion on SM?
The only thing I dislike is everyone wanting to everyone else to have the same opinion as them, or at least pretend to.
So you don’t like her opinion, and...?
She really is at liberty to think:post/say what she likes about modern beauty ideals and fashion.

L0bstersLass · 20/07/2020 22:15

Having read some of her posts, she comes across as a vain, needy, attention seeking, barely functioning alcoholic.

IKEA888 · 20/07/2020 22:17

I used to have the odd look at her posts on Facebook but it made me sad as I think she has pretty serious mental health issues.

Funguy · 20/07/2020 22:18

But she is just saying dressing a in a particular way is blatantly sexual. That the particular fashion may cause a problem for some young women who aspire to it and cannot deal with it. Which could effectively occur.
It would be unlikely that dressing in the style she describes would not grab male attention. She is not saying they deserve everything they get. She is saying the fashion could be a bit dangerous. It is not the most original thought or piece of writing.
The thing is, if you are a Kardashian or rapper, you are protected by minders and security so you can have your arse hanging out and knocking your tits if you want, no problems.
