Science fields should be given more respect in our culture

Look at the great work being done on hopefully securing a Covid vaccine. If it happens this will be a monumental achievement. Why isn't science given more credence and respect as a profession in our society? Why aren't more women being encouraged into these fields? It's where amazing work is being done.

Instead - footballers, gangsta rappers and Instagram models are what the media and our culture inspire our youth to be.

Agree. Said something very similar recently at work. Colleague called me a 'boomer.' 🙄

And those in fields like science get called things like nerds as well. There's no respect. You get more 'respect' these days for dealing drugs.
