Would you find this rude from a friend ?

I have some hairdressing experience so she asked me to colour her hair which I agreed to.
A mutual friend kindly offered for us to do it at her house then the 3 of us could have dinner there afterwards.
We arranged to meet at 3pm, it takes me a little over an hour to get there.
At 2:40pm, I get a text from the friend whose hair i'm doing saying "I'll be there at 6pm now as i'm meeting another friend in town first."
No apology or consideration for me or the friend whose house we were going to.
I was quite angry and texted her asking why she thought it was ok to make us wait 3 hours for her, and that it was a waste of our time.

She had also declined dinner with us as she would be going out with yet another friend as soon as her hair was ready, so essentially using this friend's house for her hair and not even having the politeness to stay for dinner.

She replied saying "You need to chill out, it's the holidays, and I don't give a fuck."

I was astounded by her rudeness. She then texted our other friend ranting saying she will no longer be coming because "I don't want her there."

She eventually turned up with a cake so must have realised. It just really shocked me, I don't think I was being harsh, why should we wait around for 3 hours at the last minute ?

YANBU. She would be an ex-friend is she said that to me. I hope you didn’t do her hair after that.

LaurieFairyCake · 20/07/2020 17:45

Well obviously no one is going to say she isn't rude Confused

Total arse

EvePolastri938 · 20/07/2020 17:46

I didn't no as she turned up without the product, I was in total shock. She didn't even say, "Yeah, sorry maybe that was a bit inconsiderate of me" which would have been fine.
So apparently because "It's the holidays" people have hours on end to sit around waiting :/

Ex friend from my point of view!

DiscBeard · 20/07/2020 17:50

I'm positive I've seen this thread or something very similar before!

Clevererthanyou · 20/07/2020 17:52

This boils my brain op, I’d be furious! I once waited 3.5 hours for a friend who said she wanted to go Christmas shopping and at the 3hr mark she said she’d been out the whole time drinking cocktails. 😡

MissMudskipper · 20/07/2020 17:52

Well that would have been the end of the friendship right there and then for me! Is this typical behaviour for your "friend" op?

DibDibDibduh · 20/07/2020 17:55

How bloody rude of her

Jinglebellissimo · 20/07/2020 17:57

Well obviously YANBU. But was it more like “let’s meet oh and while you’re there you could do my hair”. Or literally “can you do my hair” then everything else built around it?

Either way she’s in the wrong - but the second is truly obnoxious

Sparklesocks · 20/07/2020 17:57

She sounds rude, and not appreciative of other people’s time

thistimelastweek · 20/07/2020 18:00

@DiscBeard. Me too

user1493413286 · 20/07/2020 18:02

I’ve read this thread before

LindainLockdown · 20/07/2020 18:04

Oh come on, who could not find that rude, are you just trying for 100% YANBU. She would no longer be my friend if she had sent me that text, and I would have responded with both barrels. What did you say to her when she turned up?

LindainLockdown · 20/07/2020 18:04

If it was even a real situation, as obviously it is doubtful.

Fedup21 · 20/07/2020 18:05

Very rude-why did you still go!?

longwayoff · 20/07/2020 18:06

See you next Tuesday ex friend. CCF.

pennysea · 20/07/2020 18:07

That would really annoy me. I hope you didn't do her hair for her!

BrandyandBabycham · 20/07/2020 18:07

Doubly rude! First to make you wait 3 hours & 2nd to decline dinner & go out straight after her hair’s done.

hardboiledeggs · 20/07/2020 20:31

Feck that. I'd tell her to do one. What bloody cheek!

emcero1 · 20/07/2020 20:39

Definitely having deja vu over this thread, I'm sure this has been posted word for word before...

Justcallmebebes · 20/07/2020 20:47

Me too. This identical thread was posted earlier this year

NotIncandescentWithRage · 20/07/2020 21:33

Is this the same friend who is very dismissive of your art work and your life, and for whom you are thinking of ending the friendship?
