I have a dog and I try to be a responsible owner. He is a bit noise reactive/anxious about banging noises, and I am aware of this so I am hot on him barking, he will always be called back indoors if he starts to bark in the garden. He only barks from indoors if he is startled, like during a thunder storm, fireworks or if there is a very loud bang (like a bin falling over in the wind). He’s not left alone for long and I have a camera with a noise sensor and he doesn’t seem to bark when alone.
A house a few doors down (don’t know them) has a child or children who are, for hours on end, throwing those fire cracker banger snaps at the ground. Over and over. Its loud enough to startle my dog over and over and he runs around barking.
I can’t have my dog outside at all when they are doing this as he just barks and barks. I’m indoors with him on a hot day with the doors and windows closed and the radio on to drown out the noise because I feel like it’s not fair to inflict the barking on all the other neighbours.
I don’t want to be one of those old moany complainers about kids playing outside, obviously enjoying themselves with this seriously irritating noise but I don’t get it. Why as a parent would you allow this? Am I missing something about these things? I am a parent and once got them from a newsagent and they were fun for all of 5 mins. It is obvious to me it makes all the dogs bark on the street and they still don’t appear to DGAF or even notice or think about how bloody pissing annoying this is. Are they even supposed to be for children?
