To do a foot peel in summer?

Estellelauder · 18/07/2020 17:04

Fairly simple AIBU:

[YANBU] to do those footpeel-y socks where all your dead skin falls off now in summer when you are wearing sandals and sometimes have bare feet in the house?

Or

[YABU] you are a frightful minger and should wait for winter socks to contain the disgusting snakey layers of skin about to peel off your trotters

They're your feet, do what you like.

GreenTulips · 18/07/2020 17:09

We did one - took 6 weeks for the full peel to work!

I wouldn’t do it in summer

Sparklesocks · 18/07/2020 17:19

You can do but it might be a bit icky finding the skin clumps around the house Envy

You might be better off soaking your feet and going to town on them with one of those foot files/graters

GracieLane · 18/07/2020 17:29

Moisturise regularly and get busy with a pummis stone or foot file. Save the foot peel for when you are no longer wearing sandals

Minimoosher · 18/07/2020 17:32

I did mine recently, it took about a week before they started peeling and a week to finish the peeling. So I would say do it.

Annabanana1234 · 18/07/2020 17:38

Don’t do it! I stupidly had a wee pamper session with my dp about 10 days ago and our feel are minging Envy (not envy)

FrangipaniBlue · 18/07/2020 17:41

I did one 2 days ago and had a good old peeling sesh this morning!

I also finding soaking my feet in water does wonders for speeding up the peeling and recess Grin

Popsie17 · 18/07/2020 17:54

I did one recently as I felt they needed it. I just wore my low top converse for a week with socks (always wear them with socks anyway)! The peeling lasted about a week. I wore socks at home. So not too bad! They look so much better now!

Soaking feet will help speed up the peeing too.

I actually love doing them and do it 2-3 times a year.

CoRhona · 18/07/2020 18:07

I bloody love doing those things. My family are Envy though (not envy!)

letmethinkaboutitfornow · 19/07/2020 09:24

Why not just use a foot file, plenty of moisturiser / Vaseline/ body lotion plus socks for an hour. Softens up even the toughest skin.

Dita73 · 19/07/2020 09:29

I’ve done two of those in the last couple of months and neither of them have worked. Not a flake of skin anywhere!

CockCarousel · 19/07/2020 09:41

Foot peel didn't really work on me either - just a few flaky bits on the tops. The leathery sole skin didn't budge Sad I was really looking forward to it as well.

Newton sponge followed by flexitol and gel socks gets good results though.

dudsville · 19/07/2020 09:46

Before bed, after a bath, scrub your feet with a file and then coat your feet heavily in Nivea blue tub and put socks on.

liveinthesticks · 19/07/2020 09:52

Ooh what product do you use- never knew such a thing existed.

AuntieAl · 19/07/2020 10:00

I like the Footner ones best, have tried a few cheaper versions but although some flaky skin comes off, the footner one gives the best results. Good luck x

MrsPhyllisTyne · 19/07/2020 10:00

I did Footner last week and had all of the fab snake-peely skin etc, lovely soft feet. Now I'm on a walking holiday with flipping shredded, blistery heels, because apparently you need some hard skin to protect your feet in your walking boots. Hmm

So shed with caution, OP, if you're planning on climbing any mountains this summer. Grin

Likefootball · 19/07/2020 10:10

Perhaps a visit to the chiropodist may be better, then all you have to do is walk in and walk with lovely feet.

Mapletreelane · 19/07/2020 10:12

Crusty heels aaaaah. I discovered a micro pedi , about £12 from amazon. It's fantastic. I use every 2 to 3 days for a few mins, slap on some heel balm from Asda and feet are summer ready all year round. And my feet were bad. Good luck OP. X

Sunnysidegold · 19/07/2020 10:19

I think the packets lie about the length of time - it must vary depending on how alligator like your feet are. I had done one a couple of summers ago and had great results in a week. Did one two weeks before holidays last year and nothing happened! I put it down to being a cheaper brand and made a note to buy the other brand next time.

Of course I went on holiday and they started peeling. It was awful. I was so embarrassed. Couldn't go in the pool. Had to soak them morning and night to try and hurry it all along.

Do it if you can cover your feet up.

Estellelauder · 19/07/2020 17:15

I took @Lockheart’s excellent advice and got the fuck on with it.

Today my feet are all dry and slidey like the hull of a weatherbeaten ship that the Kraken is waiting inside. I think Wednesday or Thursday may be a day of reckoning.

Soak them in water for at least ten minutes every day, it will make a massive difference Wink

SmileEachDay · 19/07/2020 17:22

Hang on - what is this stuff? It makes your foot skin fall off?

That cannot be a good idea 😱

CoRhona · 19/07/2020 23:42

@SmileEachDay it's the dead skin, what's left are baby soft feet!
