How much weight did you lose after birth?

Without dieting/exercise/trying to lose weight.

I’m naturally a size 12, usually around 11 stone at 5’4. I know this could be classed as overweight but I’ve always had a big bum and thick thighs so I look in proportion and not heavy.

However during my pregnancy I got up to 16 and a half stone. I must say I was eating a lot more than usual. I got weighed at 8 weeks postpartum and was still 16 and a half. I felt bad but tbh was in no mindset to do anything about it. I’ve still been eating badly and haven’t exercised. However, I weighed yesterday and I’m now 15 stone. Is this just fluid from the pregnancy? I had come off a mental health medication which is notorious for gaining an excessive amount of weight but could be that. Just wondering how much anyone else lost after pregnancy without trying and whether I can expect to lose more on its own. I am going to be doing keto from Monday to get back down to my normal size. I have inflammatory bowel disease and this has always been the best diet for me to avoid flare ups.

I was just over 9 stone pre-pregnancy, and weighed 10 stone postpartum. Now 15 weeks postpartum and I’m 9 1/2 stone without trying. I’m breastfeeding, so that’s probably burnt a few calories. I’ve definitely lost a lot of water as my feet were really swollen and now aren’t.

Good luck with the dieting, I can’t seem to stop eating biscuits at the moment!

Never gained weight in pregnancy then 2 stone lighter within 2 weeks after the birth. I have no idea how that happened as I had zero sickness and never went off my food. Obviously it all crept back on 😫

Gained half a stone in pregnancy (lost some early on due to sickness). Then lost a stone within the first few weeks which stayed off until I stopped breast feeding.

I was nine stone before pregnancy and put on two stones. Three months after giving birth I was down to eight stone, I was breastfeeding and the little buggers wouldn’t stop eating (two separate children not twins).
Isn’t that partly why you put on weight to prepare your body for feeding your child?

I had HG with both and gained less than half a stone with 1st and almost 2 with 2nd. Both times had high blood pressure so lost at least a stone after birth with both prob just from fluid.

I also had high blood pressure and gestational diabetes during my pregnancy. Admittedly a lot less swollen now! I’m not breastfeeding though - wish I was if it helps you lose weight!!

I don't know what I weighed but I weighed my normal weight after a few weeks. Put a stone on since though! Lol

I was 51kg before pregnancy and put on 20kg Blush

Started weighing myself a week after giving birth and was 66kg so hardly lost any with the baby! Now at 6 months am 52.5kg. Weight has come off just with breastfeeding and walking, no dieting. With my first I ended up lighter than before pregnancy eventually so hopefully that will happen again. A couple of kg went back on when I went to work and sat down more / ate more biscuits.

10st pre pregnancy, shot up to 12st during pregnancy. 3 days after my C-section I was 10st 4lb

I got to 10st again within 2 weeks

Then ate my body weight in food during lockdown and gained a stone!!!*

Bellesavage · 18/07/2020 16:42

I'm 5'4 and gained two and a half stone in the two pregnancies I got to term with. Both times I lost about a stone quite quickly. Baby obviously weighs 7lb and lost a lot of water weight. Then I've gone on to lose another 2-3 stone (so 1-2 stone lighter than pre pregnancy) via breastfeeding.

hypernova · 18/07/2020 16:42

I was 9st pre-pregnancy with DD. Went up to 10st 4. She's almost 2 and I'm still 10st 4 Blush I've done a few diets and got to 9st 11 but I always give up and put it back on.

Winterwoollies · 18/07/2020 16:51

After a week I was my prepregnancy weight of 51kg. I’m quite slight and very active so I think I just put on fluid, the baby and the placenta and the fluid just sort of drained off. It was weird, I wasn’t expecting it. I ate a lot more sugar than I usually do during pregnancy so I’d anticipated a bit of gain.

KittyKel · 18/07/2020 16:59

I never weigh myself so no idea there but I definitely put weight on whilst breastfeeding, I just couldn’t stop eating, constantly starving!

Charlottejade89 · 19/07/2020 06:40

I was 9 stone pre pregnancy and was 11st 8lbs before giving birth. I lost a stone almost straight away, and then by 5 months pp I was down to 10 stone. but I had to go to the gym and start exercising to lose the last bit. I never got back to 9 stone, I was 9st 4lbs then I got pregnant again!
