Reasonable request? I really don't know

I work in school, what an interesting term this has been! I'm admin and apart from 2 weeks right at the start wfh, I've been in everyday.

We have inset days Mon and Tues next week, then it's the summer hols. Teachers have off site training, for me it's a normal working day, although there won't be anyone on site to "serve" iyswim.

DH has had a very distressing diagnosis and TBH I've just been hanging on for the holidays for the last 3 weeks. Head is aware and very understanding.

Some friends are going on a bike ride out for lunch on Tues. Would it be awful to ask work if I can go along? I could really use the therapy. It is true I have 6 weeks ahead to do these kinds of things but the friends mostly work shifts in the NHS so we don't get many opportunities that suit everyone. I could do a day from home during the summer to make up the time.

No harm in asking, not at all unreasonable. Hope you get to go.

KeepingPlain · 18/07/2020 11:52

Yeah ask. They can only say no, but it's worth asking. I would honest on why though, if you're caught lying, you've got more of a problem then.

GinDaddyRedux · 18/07/2020 11:55

Worth asking, agree with others, you're being reasonable about how you put it forward and how you'd make it up. Nothing CF about this at all.

Alloverthegrapevine · 18/07/2020 12:15

Hmm interesting. The comments say reasonable, the votes don't Grin

It is reasonable to ask, but also reasonable for them to say no. A good old fashioned conversation is called for! (I really hope they say yes though because it sounds like you are having a tough time)
