Hi,

Its my first pregnancy and my morning sickness is unbearable. I am frightened to take cyclinzine and know alot of people try to obstain from taking any meds in 1st trimester.

Can anyone advise on whether there is risk with this medication?

I took it for morning sickness. Doctor prescribed it as I was ILL!

Child is now 2 and pretty normal as far as I can tell between temper tantrums Grin

The NHS website is also pretty clear that it can be taken for morning sickness.

I’m not pregnant, but it’s worth looking up the side effects.

One of them is an increased heart rate, when I took it my heart rate shot up to 165 BPM. Shock admittedly I do have a heart condition but it is prescribed for nausea generally and as a result I have a note on my file that I can’t take it and have to wear a specific hospital band.

In general the alternative to Cyclozine is metochlopromide which is also suitable and doesn’t have such dramatic side effects.

Hi Op, I’ve had HG in 2 pregnancies, cyclizine is considered very safe and is usually the first medicine prescribed because of this. Please look at the Pregnancy Sickness Support website, lots of info on medications on there. Personally cyclizine did not help my sickness at all, I had to try a few more before one worked (ondansetron). Babies absolutely fine and healthy
