I wonder if there’s a correlation?

I’ll start:

Shoes on
Masks off

But will uncomplainingly comply with whatever I’m asked or required to do regarding both, because I’m polite and law abiding.

Not sure. You don't have a significant proportion of the population unable to wear shoes or not being able to be without shoes for that matter, due to anxiety, sensory issues, claustrophobia, PTSD or breathing issues.
