Aibu to think there are no cheapish exercise bikes about or am I missing some major retailer?

I really need to get up off my butt and get fit. Looking for an exercise bike at about £100 or thereabouts but I cannot get anywhere to deliver or anything suitable for my leg length (short. Not exactly Naomi Campbell). Am I overlooking a major supplier? I've looked at John Lewis, Argos and Amazon. They all seem to be out of stock. Has everyone had the same idea? Can people with short legs find bikes?

Have you checked decathlon?

AdultHumanFemale · 16/07/2020 00:08

I got one from Argos for about £100 a few years ago, but had to sell it as, even at the highest setting, I just couldn't get enough of a leg extension. So good for a shorter leg! But pretty crap for the 'cycling experience'... Most cheap bikes operate on a magnetic band principle offering degrees of resistance, and it just isn't anything like an exercise bike at the gym. So I haven't missed it, and know I won't be buying a similar bike again. Shame, as one of few methods of exercise I can comfortably do at home.

Ive got one from Argos which is fine for my legs (5ft1, 27inch inside leg) . It's a few years old though and I never use it

Look for second hand there must be 1000s needing a new home

InsideOutChickenParm · 16/07/2020 00:53

I think a lot of people bought these at the start of Lockdown. You'll either need to wait a few months for the cheap ones to become available, or to see if you can buy second hand from facebook gumtree shpock eBay.

Got mine off Amazon in March. perhaps the y are no longer available. adjustable seat height. less than £100

BlackeyedSusan · 16/07/2020 01:05

bloody hell, no longer available and the nextprice up is another 50 quid.

(just been to check for you)

If you have a normal bike already then maybe look to buy a turbo trainer. It's a contraption that you fit a normal bike on, and works similar to an exercise bike

Thank you everyone. I might try decathlon. I wasn't sure what they were like to buy from.
