Bubble bath that actually makes loads of bubbles?

minigrimms · 15/07/2020 20:03

Keep buying bubble bath for my toddler and always disappointed in the lack of bubbles. I remember when I was a kid having baths with insanely huge amounts of bubbles and loving it!

Can anyone recommend a super bubbly bubble bath? Grin

(Could possibly be due to my very shite water pressure...)

DH sticks a bit of Radox in with our 2yos bath sometimes and it goes super bubbly. May not be great for toddler skin though.

Singlebutmarried · 15/07/2020 20:05

Do you have a shower attachment? Froof up the bubbles with that to get mega bubbles.

Michaelbaubles · 15/07/2020 20:06

The own brand stuff in big bottles always seems to foam week if you use enough. The baby wash or stuff for kids doesn’t foam very well, I agree.

It could be the kind of water. Do you know if you live in a hard or soft water area?

Parmavioletgin1 · 15/07/2020 20:07

After I've put the bubble bath in, I whisk the water (quite ferociously) with my hand in a circular motion. This usually gives great bubbles.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 15/07/2020 20:08

Its because the chemicals that make it very bubbly are the same ones that aren't that good for your skin, so they dont put much/any in childrens products.

However its also affected by your local water. We go on holiday in a location with water supplied from desalination and it doesnt matter how much bubble bath you add, you get no bubbles whatsoever.

minigrimms · 15/07/2020 20:10

I have no idea if the water is hard or soft. How can I find out?

Personally I’ve ran out of bubble bath at the moment and am just putting a squirt of shampoo (Alberto balsam) in. I’m getting twice as many bubbles as normal! Don’t forget to froof the water with your hand as the bath is running

The darker the area the harder the water. I hope you can see the map.

The harder the water the less likely you are to get bubbles.

  1. No bubbles in bath: your water is probably hard
  2. Limescale in kettle: water is hard
TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 15/07/2020 20:14

If you have to wash your kettle cos it gets white scale on it, you've got hard water. If you're in Scotland then it's soft water.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 15/07/2020 20:15

Soft water tastes worse imho but its kinder on appliances

minigrimms · 15/07/2020 20:15

Oh man. Yes. Definitely hard. Is my son doomed and facing a bubbleless future? Grin

Matey foams loads

We don’t have sensitive skin though don’t know how it is for those that do

1Morewineplease · 15/07/2020 20:15

As a PP has said , foaming agents aren’t natural eg sodium laurel sulphate. Not good on gentle skin ( or any skin... best google it.)

minigrimms · 15/07/2020 20:16

@Thehop that's what I use. Almost no bubbles. Really weird.

betteliefsen · 15/07/2020 20:16

Any makes loads if you use the shower attachment to run the bath. Do not leave the bathroom though!

minigrimms · 15/07/2020 20:16

We have a separate shower and stand-alone bath so no can do Envy

Wow, honestly? That's so odd. Everyone that comes here from England goes on about how good the water tastes straight from the tap! (I'm in Scotland). Well maybe not everyone. But loads!

Our water makes iron look soft, we still get lots of bubbles. The only place I never got any was Cambridge which was horrendous...the water was also blue!
minigrimms · 15/07/2020 20:17

I used to live in Scotland and the water tasted AMAZING everywhere I went. It was like drinking bottled water.

Get a cheap shower attachment for the taps?
ChangeThePassword · 15/07/2020 20:19

You can get things to soften water. A friend used to use something called a bath ball before she moved here. Might be worth looking into, but I have no idea how good they are or how much they cost.

minigrimms · 15/07/2020 20:19

I have an actual metal whisk I may try Grin
