custodiandiscount · 15/07/2020 15:44

MikeUniformMike · 15/07/2020 15:45

viques · 15/07/2020 15:48

@PiggyPokkyFool

Love me a bit of Whinie the Poo
And all these years I thought it was Eeyore who was the grumpy one!

(And to my shame it has just struck me like a thunderbolt why he is called Eeyore)

Deadringer · 15/07/2020 15:49

Never been use. Grin

comingintomyown · 15/07/2020 15:49

I saw one of these the other day. Ages since I've seen one. Our local selling page is very strict on timewasters, which seems to have weeded out most of the people who can't write.

A favourite was someone looking for a washer mashen

LittleDonk · 15/07/2020 15:53

Oh yes dinning table! Love that one.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 15/07/2020 15:54

BTW the reason it’s a chest of drawers, is that back in the very very olden days, there were only chests. Until some bright spark thought of putting some drawers in, maybe just 2 at the bottom at first.

So the first chests of drawers appeared.

GreyHare · 15/07/2020 15:55

@BeijingBikini

Oh god, I saw an estate agent write up a really expensive house as being in a "sort after" street. If I was selling my house for that much I definitely wouldn't want a listing littered with spelling mistakes...
We recently put our house on the market and the draft brochure from the estate agent was riddled with errors of all kinds. I had to got through and edit it before returning it, and I was the one who felt embarrassed Grin
Allflightscancelled · 15/07/2020 15:56

Actually @Loveinatimeofcovid, I saw BRAN new in a classic novel once. It was a Jane Austen or possible a Thackery (maybe Vanity Fair?). Shook me, a bit. Got me to wondering if that was actually the original phrase, perhaps from when goods were packed in bran for delivery?

Anyway, just thought I'd mention it. Bloody sticks in my craw when I see it now Grin

thistimelastweek · 15/07/2020 15:57

My husband could use that to store his Prince of Whales check jacket.

SusieOwl4 · 15/07/2020 16:02

Mind you I had been saying “on tender hooks” for years

CarolVordermansArse · 15/07/2020 16:06

Are they selling a dinning table as well?

Belvoirbeaver · 15/07/2020 16:06

Person is probably selling to get some money so they can have a bit of rest bite.
Give them a brake.....

dontrecycle · 15/07/2020 16:08

Has anyone brought it yet? Smile

I hate how people mix up brought and bought.

PuppyDogTales · 15/07/2020 16:09

Allflight A quick search tells me that historic writers may have used "Bran new" to represent dialectal speech.

Brand new is the original/historic phrase. It has been suggested that "bran new' could have represented something packaged in bran, but this was only a suggestion and not a fact, nor backed up by evidence. "Bran new" is widely recognised as a mispronunciation of "Brand new". Smile
