Cheeky Space Stealer!

I’m pretty certain I’m NBU in being annoyed, but I just want to check…

I live in a block of 9 flats, and 7 of us share a small, allocated spaces, car park. The other 2 have spaces elsewhere.

I live in number 54, and number 55 is opposite me across the landing. I know for a fact that it is currently un-occupied, as I have let the owner and the letting agents into the building, as they didn’t have a key to the block, a number of times in the past couple of weeks. Also, when the flat is occupied, you do hear comings and goings, as the front doors are heavy and do bang.

Now the carpark is laid out similarly to the flats, and the space for #55 is opposite mine. Since mid-Feb when the previous tenant of #55 moved out, that space has, not unreasonably, laid empty, because no one lived there. However, in the last couple of weeks, one of the other tenants in the block (I don’t know who) have started using that space as their own personal over-flow space. Now, if it was just a regular car, I wouldn’t mind. But NO, it’s a massive trade van. And by massive I mean it overflows the size of the space by a good 3 feet. This makes it a lot more difficult for me to get my car into its space, because the already quite small space I had to negotiate in is now quite a few feet smaller.

It annoys me that this van is using a space that is not theirs, AND its size is making it hard for me to access my space. Of course, if the owners of the van actually lived at #55, I would just suck it up. But they don’t.

Am I justified in leaving them a note “reminding” them it is not their space to take, and please move?
Or do I just suck it up and wait for someone to move into the empty #55 (which I guess will be sooner rather than later), and sort out the space-stealing van for themselves?

If it is hard for you to get in and out and you are sure it’s nothing to do with number 55 or that the person hasn’t asked number 55 owner then I would put a message on van to say this belongs to ‘55 please do not park here’

Ask the owner to deal with it?

Park in the space yourself so the van can't park there
