North Wales what's open?

Hi sorry this is not an aibu but u know there are people on here who live in North Wales.

We are going to our caravan in North Wales this weekend. My parents are there now and have told me it's absolutely dead everywhere with almost zero things open.
The weather forecast was good so I had planned mostly beach activities, but the forecast has changed to mixed now.
We are going Friday to Monday, and have got Welsh Mountain Zoo booked for Sunday.
For anyone that lives there can you give me any ideas of what to do attractions wise that are open? We'd planned on the fair etc but they are all still closed. Thanks

Just been for the weekend. There are no public toilets open, some pubs cafes open just outdoors (no toilets available to use) and some shops. Nothing touristy open where we were. If I hadn’t had amazing accommodation and family to visit I would have had the shittest time tbh.

cardibach · 15/07/2020 10:50

@Mothbug a lot of the covid regulations changed on Monday in Wales. Lots of things that weren’t open at the weekend might well be now. op really needs someone who lives in the area/is currently there to answer.

Depends where you are- I live here, and since Monday everything is open, more or less, except for pubs and restaurants. I'm in Gwynedd.

sleepismysuperpower1 · 15/07/2020 10:56

hang on, that's me reading the websites wrong. I think bounce below is fully booked until September (!) and locked in is opening on the 1st of august. Sorry!

Open attractions on Anglesey, just off the North Wales coast.

Anglesey Sea Zoo
Plas Cadnant Gardens
Plas Newydd gardens ( pre-booking needed )
Ribride boat trips ( some restrictions)
Newborough beach car park is closed.
Most footpaths are open.
North Wales wildlife trust reserves are open.
Beaches are open.
Penmon Point is open (toll). Aberlleiniog Castle is open

Beaumaris pier, castle and gaol are closed.

This was posted on an Anglesey FB page last Thursday. More might be open now. I'm not sure.

Psyched paddle boarding is also back up and running. Highly recommend that as a day out. LAT time we did it it was done on Lake Padarn at the bottom of Mount Snowdon. Absolutely beautiful scenery and great fun.

greyspottedgoose · 15/07/2020 11:07

Where in North Wales are you going?

DuskandSummer · 15/07/2020 11:08

The National Trust gardens at Erddig, Chirk, Bodnant Gardens and Powis Castle are open again, you have to pre book on their website.
Mountain Biking at One Planet Llandegla is open. (No bike hire, you'd need to take your own.)
Llangollen Wharf Horse Drawn Boat rides on the canal is bookable online.
The mountains are open...and freeSmile
What ages are you needing to entertain?

Cyw2018 · 15/07/2020 11:15

Welsh mountain zoo (must be booked by midnight the night before)

Anglesey sea zoo (only about 40% of it viewable)

National trust (book online)

Snowdon mountain railway (as always... Book online)

Greenwood forest park opens on Thursday or Friday of this week I think, not sure how much of it is open though as it consists of a large amount of indoor softplay (definitely still closed) and outdoor play areas (not sure how they will manage those).

Pete's eats open for takeaways

Lodge dinorwic open for takeaways Fri,sat, sun

Georgio's ice-cream llanberis open...woohoo!!!

Surflines cafe open for takeaways

Sunshine35x · 15/07/2020 11:18

Should be OK toilet wise as I've brought a camping toilet and blackout blinds for the car

I'm not going to be going to anglesey this time. Will probably venture as far as Llandudno /Conwy.

Sunshine35x · 15/07/2020 11:23

Is Conwy Castle and smallest house still closed?

A lot of stuff only got the go ahead to open up on Monday last Friday, so things are taking their time to get back to normal. Most of the tourist stuff by us is open but we are Flintshire/Denbighshire area.

I must admit, I haven't missed the weekend traffic.

mumfeelingguilty · 15/07/2020 12:39

If you're in Abergele look at Manorafon Farm, they've reopened but I think you need to pre-book.

Also, Park Hall Countryside Experience is just by the border (Oswestry) and has reopened, again you need to pre-book.

Both are worth a visit,
