Recoloring old photos? LIGHTHEARTED

So the other day me and my best friend were discussing the whole point of recoloring old pictures. She thinks it's cool and it makes the photos more modern and up to the meantime but I don't think so. I mean, to me recolored old photos look somewhat wrong, as if they lose a part of their authenticity. Just look at the examples at this article- www.family-tree.co.uk/news/old-photos-dont-have-to-die-this-new-software-wont-let-them/ some pics really look like the recoloring was unnecessary. My best friend doesn't agree though, so I wonder is it just me?? The one hating on recolored old photos? What do you think?

Those are terrible examples...really badly done.

I think colouring old photos is a great way to bring history alive. Photos of concentration camps for example....they hit home more.

My nan used to do this with old photos of my mother, so they aren't professional but i love them. She'd colour the dress and hair bow, leaving everything else. I think it looks amazing.
