To ask what (if anything) improved your PMT?

I have terrible PMT every month - bloated, irritable, low mood, anxiety, insomnia.

I need to do something about it, can’t carry on feeling like this for a quarter of my life (one week out of four)!

Has anyone taken any supplement or medication that’s helped with this? I don’t get on with the usual pill but someone mentioned the mini pill can be good for PMT? I’m not overweight, already eat healthily and exercise, but would consider cutting out certain foods if that’s helpful?

I’m basically open to anything SmileFlowers

I am so mean and irratable and tired. It is awful. Vegatarian, limited dairy, exercise, supplement but nothing works.

40s now and just fed up with it. The lethargy is dreadful. Laziness. Can't be bothered.

Diet and exercise. I was an absolutely miserable, tight skinned, bloated, hurting, sweaty, angry mess for 10 to 14 days every month. At age 40 I embarked on a mission to get fit and healthy and it made a HUGE difference. The menopause at 49 helped alot too! 😀

A low dose of fluoxetine worked for me. I could kill with PMT and struggle to control the rage. I'm normal now. Started about 37

Multivitamins and Vitamin D and K have helped a lot. I take quite a high dose of the vit D.

Going vegan improved my symptoms.

Evening primrose oil supplement was helpful as well, used to take it many years ago.

Astaxanthin. Brilliant stuff.

Being on my own works for me. If I could just book myself into a hotel with room service for the week prior to my period, I'd be fine.

Gretalandhansel · 15/07/2020 16:03

Amen to that @thenightsky! Hotel room not possible very sadly but I do need to try more solo nights/early bedtimes etc

Thanks everyone for the excellent ideas Flowers

A low dose of Venlafaxine really helped me. I still get 1-2 days of migraine but the mood swings have almost disappeared and I feel so much better.

Agnus Castus and massively reducing my sugar intake. Only things that have made a difference to mine.

Vitamin D and B complex improved everything about my periods - went from 7 days bleeding to 4, got rid of the headaches, joint pains, insomnia, back ache, etc. Apparently they are well known to help but no one ever bothered to tell me Sad

Like a pp said, diet change.
I've never suffered badly, but started eating generally low carb years ago. Some weeks super low, others not so much and my periods became shorter 3-4 days, with zero pain, no cramps and no emotional mess.
